Those who seek power lose their minds. Evelyn's search for power made her a heartless woman, with no feelings whatsoever towards her family. Her entire mission was to rule the spirit world. "Mom." Clara says breaking free of her shock. "Mom, is it still you in there?"
"Clara darling!" Evelyn says with a strange low voice that sounded sexy. Who is she? "I feel so alive! I see the world so differently now!" She sounded high on drugs.
"What now Mom?" Clara asked in a scared tone.
"Now, it's time to rule the world."
Looking at Evelyn made my blood boil. The way she speaks like she didn't kill anyone, like there isn't a dead man's body on the floor. My father's body! I run out to her and scream, "You fucking whore!" Before I can do anything else, I freeze. I stand in front of her like a statue. Her eyes staring coldly into mine. There is something different about her.
"Cole Anderson." Evelyn says, "The boy who died and was chosen by the king to be revived." She keeps staring at me like I'm some kind of anomaly. "I am now the new king." She screams with delight. "And your life is in my hands little boy. So I advise you not to piss me off." Her evil grin gave me goosebumps. What did she mean my life is in her hands. "You can't kill me!" I say.
"On the contrary my dear." She replies ever so gently. "I can take your life in a second. But I won't. I need you. You have more potential than your father, even more than my daughter." The look of hurt on Clara's face was so obvious I know Evelyn saw it too.
"I will never help you!" I raise my voice. "Why should I! You killed my entire family!"
"If you help me, I can bring back 1 member of your family. And only 1."
What Evelyn proposed was tempting. I know I won't have my entire family back, but at least I might get someone back. But there must be something more. I don't think it'll be that easy.
"I will help you. On One condition, Charlotte and her family stay safe. No one will die ever again."
Evelyn paused for a minute. If she had to think about it that means people will die. So many people.
"Fine," She said annoyed. "No one will die."
