Freedom from Pain

And as her eyes opened wide, her head upturned to the sky, she felt herself become free.

For the first time in her life she was allowed to just be.

Be courageous, be jovial, be bold, be happy.

No longer was she under the thumb of a traitorous body.

No more was the weight on her shoulders triple her own.

Never again would she be afraid to go home.

The threat is gone and she can feel it.

Deep down within, her soul is lightened.

But the mirror is still a foe, reminding her of all that shows from the attacker.

Those eyes which glare back match due to a hacker copying code.

Lips which would part in her horrendous scream, silenced by counterparts that couldn't possibly be clean.

Flesh pale the most but darkened at times proving actions that lead to this decline.

Hands wrapped around her throat, begging her not to mope, not to cry, and to absolutely never ask why.

Her mind filled with thoughts and words of disdain and worthlessness, swirling around like a whirlwind of suffering never to be escaped.

The threat is gone but so is the innocence of a once pure being.

Red and blue saved a body but not a soul.

Each day despite her lightness, darkness will fall.

She will be left wondering, begging for an answer never to call.

One who brought her life also took it away, only a shell to remain.

A court date will determine the fate.

All possibility of recovery stripped away as they say provided evidence is not okay.

No proof of identity left in the wound, no photos to say what he did do.

Slits across her flesh bring some relief.

Blood pouring down to the concrete beneath.

Her shell will match soon, as those eyes fade to gray.
