Nightmare-Peter Parker x Reader

"Please, pull over!"

My cries have no affect as he continues to race down the narrow street, narrowly dodging cars and lamp posts.

"Dad, please stop the car, you're going to fast."

He looks at me with intoxicated eyes. "Shut up."

I'm crying. Tears cascade down my face, leaving red traces. I hold onto my seat in an attempt to stay safe.

I close my eyes.

He's been drunk before, it never like this. I tried to get him to take a cab but he wouldn't listen.

I open my eyes. Just in time to see us swerve around the corner.

"Dad, stop!"

The car goes flying into the side of a building, falling into the room.

I sit up in bed, ripping myself out of the arms around my waist. Realising I am no longer in the crashing car, I fall back into the pillow, tears beginning their desent down my cheeks. I close my eyes and turn to sob into the pillow.

"Y/N?" I hear Peter whisper, sounding worried. "Hey, what happened? What's wrong? Was it another nightmare?"

He shifts in bed to face me properly and gently lifts my hand away from my face. Cupping my face with his hand, he brushes the tear streaks away with his thumb. "What happened?"

"Nothing, please don't worry, it was just my dad. Again."

"The same dream?"

I nod and lean my head against his shoulder. His arms come around my waist and he shifted once again so that he was lying on his back and I was resting my head on his chest.

"Don't worry. He's gone. He isn't coming back," Peter says, rubbing his hand up and down my back and grabbing my hand and threading our fingers together. "No-one's going to hurt you. I'll make sure you're safe."

I smile at his continued want to be the hero, even when not dressed in spandex. "Thank you."

He squeezes my hand and rests his chin on top of my head. "Anytime."
