Pantheon - Aztec

Places of influence -

All the lands from Columbia in the south to all of Mexico is where their strongest. But they also have a notable presence in the south west United States, the west coast, and a few islands off the coast of the pacific and Caribbean. Far north as Oregon.

Organization-

The Aztecs gods are very independent from each other, each doing their own thing with out trying to bother the other. They minding their own businesses, having little care. It may sound chaotic and unorganized, that because it is. Although gods & goddess of similar attributes tend to work with each other.

Despite their disorganized nature, there are 4 gods are recognized to have the most power & influential there for commanding the most authority. Quetzalcoatl, serpent god of the sky, light, knowledge. Huitzilopochtli, the current sun god (long story), war, and hummingbird birds. Tezcatlipoca jaguar god, god of night, war, magic. Tlaloc god of storms, water, and ruler of one of the 13 heavens ( longer story). While the 4 are technically rivals, they do hold a certain respect towards each other, but will have the occasional skirmishes.

The Aztec gods were originally an aspect of the Mayan gods. Their relationship to each other is similar the one between the Greek & Roman gods. After the Spanish arrived and conquered in the 1500s, the Aztecs went through reforms to insure their precedence on earth. Which is kind of ironic because them destroyed and recreate the world 5 times already (even longer story). The 2 most major reforms is the fusion of Aztec & Mayan gods into one single pantheon, and the gradual removal of human sacrifice .

For the mortals they form war bands, fighting and traveling in groups. But the Aztecs have 4 major settlements (similar to camp Jupiter/half blood) , 4 city states each have a permanent population. Each of the cities is dedicated to one of the big 4. The Aztecs tend to travel between the 4 cities, they trade with each other.

On occasion they will go on to have pre planned mini wars with each other ranging from a couple dozens to a hundreds of warriors on the battlefield. Mostly to compete for glory & bragging rights, on which city has the the better team.

Races -

Demigods don't really exist, but legacies kind of do. (Aztec mythology is complicated)

Aztecs warriors -

Humans who have been given the blood of the gods. If a human comes in long term prolonged contact with the blood they will gain the powers of the god where the blood came from.

The blood is normally gifted by the gods to humans who have earned their favor or respect. Most cases gods will grant mortals the potential to gain some of their abilities, if proved favorably or if the created a pact with them.

One unintentional side effect of Aztec warriors, is that their descendents have the potential to gain the same abilities as their ancestors .

Power -

Warrior blood-

It is how the Aztec warriors gain their supernatural abilities. Most modern day Aztec warriors are descendants of ancient warriors . The children and descendants of Aztec warriors , are able to unlock theirs powers through multiple means including, stress, high emotions, puberty, or just by coming in contact with something magical.

First generation Aztec warriors are humans who are the first in their family to gain powers, they tend to be very powerful compared to second or third generation Aztec warriors . In exchange to their raw powers, they have less control and may be emotional unstable.

People who take in the gods blood will have to do it very gradually to let their body & spirit adapt because of its extreme potency. In extreme cases if a person over indulged in the in the gods blood too fast, they risk some dangerous side effects including coma, bloodlust , going into a feral state, or even death.

The negative effects of taking gods blood can be reduced if the person taking it paces themselves, have high will power, or already have Aztec warriors ancestry.

Children of Aztec warriors if they have multiple ancestors who made pacts with different gods , the powers they would get will be randomizes. For example if your father had the blood of Tezcatlipoca (shadows/magic/wind) and you mother had the blood of Huītzilōpōchtli (enhanced speed/light generation), you will inherit either one of your parents abilities, a mixed of them, or your powers will just be completely randomized.
