lyrics or poetry?
i wonder as i write
whether it is a melody
upon first sight,
notes plucked on a piano
guitar strings strummed
a sweet singing voice
or the thud of a drum
or whether they are paintings of words
drawn upon my black canvas
if my fingers are my paintbrushes
heart pumping out the paint for the stanza
oh lyrics or poetry?
why could it possibly matter,
the splash of a paint
the strum of a string
the sweet singing voice
or brush of my fingertips
oh lyrics or poetry?
what a silly thing,
for these are just words, and put simply, just me
