Complicated

"Fuck" Skylar said out loud in the bathroom. She looked at the pregnancy test on the counter and swallowed the lump in her throat.

Pregnant, she read the words on the small screen to herself. She walked out the bathroom into her bedroom grabbing her phone off the bed. She called up Osiris but it went straight to voicemail. She tried again three more times but still got sent to voicemail.

Rolling her eyes, she laid down on her bed and let out a deep breath. Again, she thought. Her phone started vibrating in her hand and she quickly looked at it seeing her father calling. She was hesitant to answered but did anyways. At the end of the day that was her father and she loved him no matter what.

"Hello" she answered.

"Hey baby girl" he greeted making her smile. "How are you?"

"I'm good just hanging in there" she answered sitting up.

"I'm calling to talk to you about a few things"

"Wassup?"

"First I'm calling to apologize on my behalf about what happen at the event" he told her. "I didn't know he was going to pull that type of mess-"

"It's okay dad I'm not worried about him anymore" she said cutting him off. "I've moved on"

"I'm glad sweetheart" he responded. "But I was wondering if you was coming over tonight for your mother's birthday"

"Uh yeah I can do that what time?"

"Around five"

Skylar looked over at her clock that was on her night stand seeing the time was going on four. "Uh yeah I'll be there"

"Okay I'll see you later love you"

"I love you too" she said before hanging up. She waited a few seconds and was going to call Osiris again but ended up calling Liberty instead.

"Hey bitch" Liberty answered. "What you doing?"

"Nothing about to go to my parents house for my mothers birthday"

"Ooh good luck you know she hates your guts" Liberty chuckled.

"Yeah I don't know why" Skylar agreed. "Um what are you doing tonight?"

"I'm supposed to go on a date with June but he cancelled on me for a tattoo appointment"

"Good come through tonight I got something to tell you"

"About who?" Liberty questioned trying to get the tea right now.

"I'll tell you when you get here" Skylar answered. "Come around six I don't think I'm going to be staying there long"

"Alright I'm bringing a bottle of wine over" Liberty told her.

"Okay that's fine" Skylar told her. The two best friends spoke a little longer on the phone before hanging up. She looked at the clock again seeing how much time flew by. She climbed out of bed and made her way downstairs. She grabbed her keys and bag and locked up her place before taking the elevator to the main floor. Once the doors open, she walked outside and headed to her car. She hopped in and started the engine. Escape by Keilani played softly through the speakers as she drove out the parking lot heading to her parents house.
