Jagged Rocks(Poetry)

Before I start, I'm going to tell you that this is about 2 ships that came aground where I live. It happened Feburary 18th ,1942 when slavery was happening in the U.S, A man named Lanier Phillips was on that ship and the men from my town saved and and changed his life forever..

Jagged Rocks

It was Feburary 18th

In 1942

In the middle of a snow storm

And no one knew what to do

The two ships had crashed

Straight into the rocks

Some people had no shoes

Some people had no socks

Miners threw down a rope

Down the icy cliffs

To the struggling soilders

Who were stuck in snow driffs

They were soaked full of oil

Right threw to the bone

The ship had crashed in the cove

And all you could hear were moans

But the people of St.Lawrence

They knew what to do

They gave them some clothes

And made them some stew

The miners brought horses

Who towed the sleds

That would carry the dead and survivors

Back to their homes and sheds

Now 70 years later

We still haven't forgot

The lives that were shed

On those jagged rocks.
