<Harry's POV> (continued)
I walked through the trees looking up through the tree branches. Every once and awhile, the sun would breach the branches and hit me in the eyes. It was beautiful but I know I can't stay for much longer.
I began to exit through the back of the orchard to the plain road behind it, when I heard a rustling. My ears perked up and picked up more of the noise. My instincts took over and I climbed into the closest tree.
A couple ran through the center of the trees and then went into their car and left. "Thank god it wasn't them," I whispered to myself. Lately, the government has been on me. They want to take me in for tests to see if they can solve my 'condition'. You would think I would agree to that but my mother always told me to love myself for me.
When I said no to the tests, they didn't like my answer. They tried taking me forcefully but I managed to get away from them. I have been running from them for almost a year. They manage to find me and try to capture me but I have been getting stronger to prevent being taken to one of their facilities. If they want me so bad, they have to wait till I die.
I climbed down the tree and walked along side of the road for a few miles. I had my red hat on and my tail tucked in so no one would notice me as they drove by. I then made it to my house. It was a tiny, yellow abandoned looking house surrounded by thick trees and thick with vines with large 3 inch thorns.
It was a cozy place. I had a bed, clothes and I had my little mementoes that I got from my house the day of my sister's funeral when no one was home.
There use to be a women, named Sherry, that let me stay with her here. She was the only one that didn't freak out about my tail and ears. She had her own source of electricity, water, heat and food. She told me it would never run out. Her saying that made me think she was a witch of some sort but I didn't bother to question it.
She died a week ago. Sherry said for me to bury her on this land. I did what she asked of me. I even found a stone and shaped it into a tombstone. I engraved her name and did a design on it with my claws. I placed it at the head of her grave. I took several kinds if seeds and planted them around the edge of her grave. Sherry deserves a beautiful grave site.
I walked into the house and sat down. I don't know what to do with myself these days. Sherry was the one who always had plans when I got home from a walk. I decided to visit her today. I haven't visited her since her death.
I walked through the thorns that I had taken and shaped into a doorway. The flowers around her had grown so well. They made her grave look bright and beautiful. I smiled and sat down at the foot of her grave.
"Sherry, I miss you so much. I don't know what to do without you," I said almost expecting a response. I talked to her about my day and the past week without her. I truthfully wanted an answer to come from beyond the grave but no such luck.
*CRUNCH* I rose quickly and my ears were up. Someone was here, watching me. "Whose there?" Not a word came from the trees. "Show yourself! I know you are here I can smell you," I said thinking that someone would step out.
At the far end of the trees I heard a faint but recognizable whisper,"Follow me my dear Harry." It was Sherry's voice! This can't be! She is dead; I buried her myself. I ran to the whisper and I saw the end of a white dress turn the corner.
She was leading me towards the stream where we would swim together and clean our clothes every Friday. "Over here honey," Sherry said. "Sherry! Wait up!" She then turned at the bend of the stream. "Sherry!" I ran towards the bend of the stream. I was soaked wet. I didn't like being in water as much as I use to before I became a Neko.
I made it to the bend of the stream. As I turned waiting to hear a whisper or see the white end of a dress, I saw people I didn't want to.
I saw my parents and government agents. The agents had my parents on their knees in the stream. They had guns pointed to their heads as well. I starred at them with widened eyes. "Harry," my mother said. The agents turned, realizing my presence, and held guns at me.
"Nice to see your grandmother lead you here. It is very nice to see you kitten boy," Agent Clark said with a smirk on his face. "Can't say the same for you Clark. Wait, what do mean grandmother?" "Hahaha. I want this to be over with quickly so let's begin, shall we?"
I didn't answer. "Your parents have been hiding where you were for a long time. They knew you were going to find Sherry. She is your grandmother after all. I growled at him mentioning Sherry. How could she be my grandmother let alone be alive? "Be a good kitty. I am not done yet!" I looked behind me and saw two agents holding their guns. They were shaking in fear.
"Your parents wouldn't tell us where Sherry was but we were just pulling their strings. Your grandmother is one of us; an agent." I shook my head not believing in what words he spat at me. "Oh but yes kitty. She faked her death so she could plot a plan to get you here. She gave you up and she said she would bring you." Sherry came from the trees in an agents uniform instead if a dress.
"Sorry darling. I had to do what was right for the safety of the world. It was the right thing to do." I had tears forming in my eyes. "Sherry.......," I whispered out. "Now, your parents have to pay the price for keeping secrets from the government," Clark said with a loud chuckle that scared the birds out the trees.
He grabbed my parents by the collars of their shirts and dragged them forward. I looked at them not wanting to get any closer than needed. He tossed a 12 caliber gun to one of the agents behind me. "Shoot them. Make it messy!" Clark laughed and stepped back. The agent walked over to my parents and loaded the gun and put a bullet in the barrel.
"Sorry folks, I have to do this." He was about to pull the trigger on my father but then suddenly pulled it on me. He fired and I didn't have enough time to react. The huge bullet pushed through my skin and continued until it stopped. I collapsed to the ground and began to bleed out through the large wound.
He then shot me several more times in the stomach. I bleed even more and was on the verge of passing out. I was surprised I wasn't dead already. "Thanks for playing along Mr. and Mrs. Styles. We appreciate your compliance," Clark said. He lied to me. They did tell him where I was and they were playing along!
Before I completely passed out, the same agent again walked to me. He stood over me and said,"Fucking die already kitty!"
He then pulled the trigger and shot me two more times in the head.
It was the scream of my mother I last heard and the blackness was the last and final thing I saw.
