This is for one of my favorite books called More Than We Can Tell by Brigid Kemmerer, so these are the lyrics to a crappy song I made, enjoy. (Chorus repeated) As you can see in the picture above, I kind of forgot to finish the song, oh well.

You are my father,

but you are not my dad.

My body's covered

in burns and scars.

I'm haunted by your words,

but God's proverbs

can't save you now.

Spent eighteen years afraid of you,

got by with a friend or two.

Your words are knives,

like the ones used on my skin.

And then you say

leaving you's committing a sin.

You are my father,

but you are not my dad.

My body's covered

in burns and scars.

I'm haunted my your words,

but God's proverbs

can't save you now.

You made me believe

your words were from God.

Words from the bible,

but they're twisted.

And I can't even breathe.

But I'm not alone,

you can't hurt me.

You're just a man,

strangling me with your words.

Pain brought by your hand,

Finally free from your curse.

You aren't my father,

not even a man.

My body's covered

in burns and scars.

I'm haunted by your words,

but God's proverbs

can't save you now.

I no longer believe.

Your words aren't from God.

Words from the bible,

but they're twisted.

I can finally breathe,

and I'm not alone.

You can't hurt me.
