a new girl had been brought to camp but she could never meet anyone's eyes and recalled whenever anyone stepped to close she wore big sweaters and long pants even though it was summer, when she lived in Hermes cabin most believed she never slept or if she did she fell asleep very late and woke very early, and when she was claimed by Demeter others in the cabin told that she would wake up screaming or in crying fits to which she would be un consulate, until one night she screamed so loud she woke up the rest of the camp,

"PLEASE DONT" she cried out and in that moment Percy knew he remembered that feeling, the begging the scars that were not from monsters or at least not from greek monsters,

"dad or stepmom," Percy asked her after she had claimed done no one else understands why he had asked

"both, you," she asked holding a pillow close to her body

"My stepdad, he was a horrid person, he still haunts me," Percy admits, "I'm not going to hurt you, we're not going to hurt you, okay"

"I - I - I can't believe you," her breath was jumpy Miranda tried pulling at Percy she didn't know the girl hell she hadn't even spoken her name, but Percy stayed, he sat closer to her moving barely so she wouldn't jump or start screaming his hands in the girls sight so she knew he wasn't going to hurt her

"I know you don't have to, you have every right to be scared you have every right to be cautious, but I'm Percy Jackson could you tell me your name," he asked Percy sat on the floor next to the bed lowering himself to be below her so she didn't feel like a man who was twice her height and ten times her strength was coming after her, as he did he offered her his hand

"Lucile, Lucile Markson," she told him she had stopped shaking and took his hand carefully but she did, normally she would have recollied but she took his hand.

"Hi Lucile, do you know where we are," he asked rising slowly to sit on the bed they were at the same level now

"I was told its called camp half-blood," she nodded letting her tight grip go on her pillow the only thing she had brought with her,

"very good and what cabin are you in right now," Percy asked moving forward, carefully showing both his hands to be empty

"Demeter," her breath had steady out like she was starting to calm down,

"what god is she," Percy asked, all these questions confused the others watching, they were pointless, in their eyes at least, Percy was giving Lucile a chance distract her self from the panic that flooded her head, his mother had down this when he was little,

"the goddess of harvest and agriculture she was the mother of Persephone who married the god of the underworld who also happened to be her uncle but her parents where both siblings so I guess uncle and niece is better than brother and sister," she actually laughed a little bit,

"that's right, are you feeling better," Percy asked finally standing up,

"yes, thank you, Percy," she nodded

"now this woman here her name is Miranda Gardiner shes a counsellor of the cabin right now, she's your half-sister," Percy took Miranda's hand pulling her forward carefully

"Hello," Miranda didn't know what else to stay but she talked softly and carefully as Percy was doing,

"are half-siblings better then step-parents," Lucile asked Percy causlialy,

"I can't speak for all of them but mine where try giving it a chance," Percy nodded, "but for tonight you should get some rest, try thinking of storeys you love," he told her as she lay down everyone then walking away from her bed,

"how did you what did you do," Miranda asked Percy as they stepped outside, most of the kids had returned to there cabins now,

"Lucile was abused by both her mortal parents, it must have been very bad," Percy sighed Annabeth took his hand she knew the full extent of what Gabe had done to the young Percy,

"what did you do to calm her," Miranda asked

"detracted her, she had gotten a panic attack, from the fear of what her step-mother and dad had done to her, what she fears she'll have to go back to," Percy explained

"she doesn't have to go back," Miranda argued

"your right, but that doesn't stop the nightmares the irlashall thoughts, go get some sleep we will talk more in the morning,"  Percy brushed her off, it was still pretty early morning,

annabeth and Percy got back to cabin three soon enough, as soon as the door closed to the cabin she pulled at his shirt, looking at the gash like a wound that Percy had on his chest

'i didn't dodge quick enough"

that's all he said about it for years when they thought it was another camper or a greek monster, it was a monster of course but off the human verity

'I never lied,' Percy defend himself to Annabeth she felt the tears springing from her eyes when she had asked him what had really happened, 'i didn't dodge quick enough, Gabe was drunk and I was seven or eight maybe I was six, my mother wasn't home she had a night shift and he slashed me with a kitchen knife after he saw my report card, my mother started sending me to schools father away after that.' percy sounded cold, his eyes stiff, but Annabeth fell into his chest holding him as best she could, she was shorter then she was and smaller in build,

'that's, not the only one is it,' Annabeth commented, her voice quite

'no, no it's not' Percy replied,

since that night Percy had told Annabeth most things, so many things he had kept to himself. some he promised himself never to repeat, he would never speak of the day Gabe broke his arm, or the day Percy had almost killed someone unknowingly,

Annabeth ran her hand along the scar, placing her hands on his chest she could feel his heartbeat the only sound she could rely on, the steady beat that rocked her to sleep on the night's things had gotten worse the countless nights in Tartarus because it meant he was alive both lying down on percys bed

"do you still get nightmares," annabeth asked,

"its stupid, he's dead but every so often I find my self in a dream so real its like this world was all just a dream, like I had dreamt it all up, and im eleven again, Grover is just a friend from school ill never see again, and Gabe is still there," Percy admits,
