Alarms echoed the base, along with the screams and yells of HYDRA soldiers. All of them were running, running from me.
Casually, I walked towards them, ignoring the gunfire and bullets that did little to stop my advance. Prior to this base I had attacked quickly, but this was the final one my resources had discovered, and I was savouring it. Perhaps somewhere in this base, documents, or a person would reveal the location of another, or a stronghold containing any of the remaining leaders of HYDRA.
My twin blades hung by my sides already dripping in the blood of my enemies. That same ruby red was all over me, on my hair, my skin, and my clothes. To them I must have been terrifying and that thought brought a smile to my mouth.
Ahead of me, a group of agents were assembling behind a glowing cannon, powering up with the high pitch whine of a large energy source. Unfazed by the weapon I continued down the hallway, preparing to meet the blast and its operators with my swords.
Then it released a blast, a blast that somehow sent me flying to the other end of the hall. It felt like they had lit my abdomen with flames and when I stood, I couldn't help but cringe.
It seemed the weapon was a threat.
"You are so dead now," I growled, charging towards the men with supernatural speed. They barely had time to react when my blade ran through their bodies staining my clothes and skin with their blood. The crimson substance also dripped off of my blades as I continued down the hall.
My connection with the base's system told me that I had killed most of the agents and scientists, soon this raid would be over.
Since returning from Tartarus, I had destroyed every known base that HYDRA operated in with lethal efficiency. Explosives, poison, and gas were my main methods, a few more creative plans in the mix as well.
I couldn't even remember how many bases I've destroyed in the week since Loki and the Avengers' arrival in Eris' domain. It was all a blur of blood, screams and death.
"This base will self-destruct in one minute, evacuate immediately." I cursed at the electronic female statement which echoed through the stair case I had been climbing. Ignoring my aching body, I fastened my pace upwards.
Shouts still echoed from above, urgent as the HYDRA agents got ready to escape.
"Load it, Ultron will kill us if we don't get that out of here!" A German accented male voice shouted.
Silently, I moved towards the noise, noting the fleeing car screaming away from me and helicopter about to take off from the roof.
Raising my hand to the helicopter, I brought it down, deciding that in absence of the soon to be destroyed documents, a human might be a better source.
A suited man stared at me with fear dilating his pupils as I approached the aircraft. With a single tug, I ripped him out of the copter.
Touching his forehead, I scrolled through his memories before breaking his neck. A single bunker now remained of HYDRA and after a brief break in Eris' domain, I would return for it.
One of my enemies were almost gone.
Before returning to the domain, I decided to stop by and grab some fast food. Atë had suggested and I figured that her friends and our relatives would appreciate.
With a glamour on, no one realised that they were sitting close to a blood covered goddess fighting to protect the things she cared about.
"Holy shit," A feminine voice squeaks, dropping the phone in her hand as she gawked at me. Others in the small pizza shop turned to look at me before realising that the red-haired woman must know me.
