The Old Line State, the Free State, the Cockade State, the Monumental State, the Oyster State, the Queen State, the nicknames of my home state.
Marylanders, that's what we're called.
Fort McHenry, the sight of the battle that inspired The Star Spangled Banner.
We're part of the thirteen original colonies.
We stood up to the South.
We voted against slavery.
We have done many important things in the history of the United States.
I do not know anyone who would love to visit Maryland, but that might be because I live there.
I'm proud of all my heritage. My mom has never told me of an ancestor who I was not proud of.
Just don't forget, all thirteen colonies played an important role.
Every role is important.
We could not have done it without every state.
