Eren's P.O.V.

*slash* Levi takes down another titan. The forest is clear and there is still no sign of Mikasa. This is the twelfth forest we have checked since she left. There are twenty five forests, and I know Mikasa wouldn't go too far outside the walls so I know we're close to finding her.

"Eren, let's take a lunch break,"Levi suggests as he lands next to me. Usually what I would think about at a moment like this would be how amazing Levi was at killing titans or how graceful his landing was, but all I can think about is that I want to find Mikasa.

We open the basket of food that Sasha prepared. As soon as it was open a breeze blows something red over my head and out into the air. Mikasa's scarf!

I jump off the tree in attempt to catch it, but I am too late because an updraft blows it beyond my reach. Completely forgetting Levi, I chase after the bright red scarf. Got it! I just barely grab the scarf just as a titan hand closes around me. I guess we missed one. No! The scarf slips from my fingertips.

*fsshh * *slash * I hit the ground with a loud thump. Levi stands over me holding the scarf. "What is wrong with you Yeager?" he nearly shouts.

"I-I needed," I stutter under his intense glare."to get Mikasa's scarf befo-"

"You risked your life for a scarf?" he interrupts "Why? It's just a scarf."

"No. It may be just a scarf but it is still important. It holds so many memories that I don't want to forget." Now I know how Mikasa feels when people ask her why she never takes this scarf off.

Levi's expression changes to one of understanding. His hand touches the hem of his cape. I almost forgot that the cape he is wearing isn't even his. It was Petra's. Back when the female titan attacked Petra died trying to fight her off. As soon as Levi saw her dead body along the rest of his squad, he switched his cape with hers. I always wondered why he took her cape and not one of the men's capes instead, but later I found out that Levi and Petra were supposed to get married. To this day he won't let anyone touch that cape.

"Let's get going."Levi turned with his last statement and walked toward the horses.

I stand up, still holding the bright red cloth. I feel like, just from holding this scarf, Mikasa is standing next to me. I hold the scarf up to my nose. It even smells like Mikasa: lilac and ginger.

I rap the scarf around myself like I used to when this scarf was mine. I probably look silly, but I don't want to lose this again.

I mount my horse. Taking one last look behind me. The trees seem to wave goodbye as a breeze blows through them.

I know we're close. Don't worry ,Mikasa. We're coming.
