Chapter 2/4

Even until now, her life is only filled with a tear and a smile.

Meghan expected Kai and Melissa's love would end by the time being, that one day she would be replaced by another woman. She hoped it would be repeated, again and again in Kai's life. Because it would lessen Meghan's own pain. But unfortunately, their love still lasted for 10 years, forcing Meghan to agree about 'a true love does exist'.

She didn't know where she got a courage to throw her recorder, a friend which had accompanied her in all the time she mourned her one sided love. She threw it to the sea, as her first step to get over her pain, she thought time would be friendly enough to help her forgetting Kai. Since that time, she decided to choose a different college from the other. She chose nursing while Kai and his lover left Florida to New York.

Meghan had tried to have a normal relationship once. But it failed. Her boyfriend said he felt like dating a robot. That she had been trying too much to fit his boyfriend's ideal woman yet it made the latter feeling burdened instead. He felt she didn't truly love him which Meghan couldn't fully understand what he meant, what exactly he expected from her. She did everything necessary to please him. He said all he wanted was a simple thing. Her sincere love.

She assured him that she was giving it all the time they were together yet he replied no it's not love. Not that kind of love. She didn't understand what kind of love that her boyfriend demanded. Love. What is love? Deep inside Meghan knew what he meant. She just refused to acknowledge it's different. If he wanted 'that love', then she couldn't give it. What Meghan remembered about 'that love' was only pain.

She managed it, pretended to forget her first love by only 2 years before Kai's voice suddenly appeared in all TV stations as a rookie singer. It didn't take much time for him to gain popularity after 2 months debut. His face had been spread almost in all weekly magazines during that time. Meghan couldn't help but to be drowned again in the same trap. Pretending to forget was just as hurt as loving from a far either way.

She couldn't help but became his secret fan since then. Buying his album, listening all his songs, watching his live performances, and tracking his news. But happiness was soon vainly leaving her and sinking her down to the same despair again once Melissa debuted as an actress from the same label as Kai. Maybe their profile were telling the public that they were both single but Meghan knew they're surely still together. Meghan laughed at herself sometimes. How fool she was. Being his secret fan didn't mean she owned him. 'Look at him, how many things he has achieved, he has gone big, while you?!! What have you achieved beside collecting his stuffs like an obsessed fan you are?'

Sometimes Meghan wondered why fate kept stabbing her with the same pain. When she thought she's starting to heal, fate grabbed her heart then sank it into a salty water, making her old wounds were opened again.

Now she's working at Sea Palms Rehabilitation Hospital near Turtle Beach. Its other nick name is The East Sea. A place that had been recorded all the memories of her first love.

She has stopped updating the news about Kai though. But she still can't stop listening his song while enjoying the sight of the sea every morning. Only in that moment, she can be selfish and pretends she finally becomes the sea (Kai)'s lover.

(ring)...(ring)...(ring)

She gets a call from her friend Ana that a new patient will come from New York. She gives her last smile to her sea as a goodbye and a promise to come again by tomorrow because her shift will be started.
