SAN FRANCISCO, THE famous Golden City, is home to many things. The Golden Gate Bridge, Lombard Street, a shit ton of sea lions, and, oh right, superhumans.
Twenty years ago, in this very city, the very first superhumans were discovered. No one knew where they came from - if was in the water, if it was a genetic mutation, if it was from freak radiation - and in the beginning, no one seemed to care.
You see, in a perfect world, these superhumans would have kept their abilities a secret. But this world is far from perfect, and word got out about these 'inhuman freaks'. As more and more of them popped up around the globe, all hell broke loose.
Sure, some of them used their powers for good. But the others had their own agenda. Worldwide chaos ensued. Eventually, all the major military powers of the world joined forces to round up and exterminate every last superhuman.
They were successful. Society returned to (relative) peace, the world was purged of the unnatural, and superhumans ceased to exist.
