The moon is held in place by the sky.
It may only move at the sky’s will.
And so it sits,
And waits,
And exists.
The moon prays the sky will one day release it.
The sky knows the facts of life:
Why it rains,
Why the stars exist,
Why the moon needs the sky.
And so maybe,
The moon does need the sky.
Much like a moth needs a flame.
But maybe,
In the end that flame is too hot.
