Chapter 26
~Crazy Old Lady~
------Jay------
"What is that little device called again? A tripod?" The elderly women sitting next to me in our row of three asked, poking at my IPod. I sighed, pulling the headphones out to -once again- explain to her the device I possessed.
"An IPod actually, but that's pretty close. You can play games, listen to music and take pictures on it." I explained, feeling an odd sense of dejah vu. I had explained to this women at least three times what it was and what it could do.
"Really? That's a huge development from what I had. Back in my day, if we wanted music, we had to use records or cussets. Sometimes, we didn't even have that!" She exclaimed, staring up at me with wide eyes.
"Wow." I replied, faking ym enthusiasm.
It's not that I don't like elderly people, it's just that my day had been abd from the start, and this women asking me the same question over and over again is beginning to drive me crazy. This morning, I learned that Kim, Owen, Brett and I are sharing a room. For me, the news wasn't terribly bad. It would help me in my attempt to mend Owen and I's broken friendship, so I was okay with the whole situation.
Kim and Owen on the other hand? Not so much.
The look that overcame Owen's face when the news was delivered, looked as if he was in unbearable pain. It was completely understandable though. He had recently got his heart broken by the girl who will be sharing a room with him. That would probably be last on the list of things to do to get over a brokenheart.
Kim, now she was a whole other story. While Owen, as heartbroken and crushed as he may of looked, chose not to say anything. He knew voicing his opinion would raise suspicion, and possibly let our families know what went down between him and Kim, so he kept quiet.
Unlike Owen-very unlike- Kim had felt it was her right to have her opinion heard. She had even mentioned that in her hour long argument with our mother and father. Which had been completely useless. The only back up she had was that she didn't want to sleep in the same room as a boy, and that sleeping with me was stupid. I, actually was slightly offended. I don't have anything wrong with me. It should be me who should be scared to sleep with Kim.
In the end, Kim lost, and is now sulking in the seat beside our parents. Brett sat with his parents and Owen was sitting on the other side of the elderly women beside me.
I looked over the lady's head to Owen, who wore an amused smile on his face. Oh, so he clearly enjoyed this.
The women looked up, noticing the glare I was shooting at Owen. A smile worked it's way onto her face as she glanced back and fourth between us.
"Oh. You two know each other?" She questioned. I shrugged, breaking the eyecontact with Owen and muttered: "Yeah."
"Are you two dating?"
I snapped my head up, facing the women with a look of disbelief. I could feel my face growing hotter with every passing second. Glancing up, I noticed Owen had a shocked expression on his face as well.
