こんにちわ!Today was a bit of a busy day with a history test and school work and all, but I managed to make time to quickly learn some stuff in the car on my way to school at 6am. I'm still trying to keep the greetings in mind, but I'm hoping to start expanding to even more basic conversational phrases such as 雨だ!("It's raining;" probably got that wrong but it's just based on my current knowledge.) I'm a little iffy on some of the kanji characters, but I'll have them in place by tomorrow.

Kanji
元気 (genki; げんき - healthy)
学生 (gakusei; がくせい - student)
人生 (jinsei; じんせい - life)
人 (hito; ひと - person)
友達 (tomodachi; ともだち - friend)
僕 (boku; ぼく - me, I)
僕の (boku no; ぼくの - my, mine)*
*becomes possessive with the addition of
(ame; あめ - rain) (also one of the coolest kanji I've encountered so far.)

Grammar
___です (___desu - more formal than 'da'; to be ___)
Ex. 学生です (gakusei desu - Is student, I am a student, etc.)

___ (____da - more colloquial than 'desu'; to be ___)
Ex. 友達だ (tomodachi da - Is friend, I am a friend, etc.)

___じやない (janai - colloquial; to not be ___)
Ex. 友達じやない (tomodachi janai - Is not friend, I am not a friend, etc.)

___ じゃありません (ja arimasen - formal; to not be)
Ex. 学生じゃありません (gakusei ja arimasen - Is not student, I am not a student, etc.)
