I've been driving nonstop; not knowing where the wheels would take the both of us, but I'm enjoying my self because for the first time, I relied on my self not minding anyone around me. I just did what I needed to do without consulting someone and it feels great - It feels refreshing.
"J-jema, where are you planning to take me?", she asked while combing her hair with her fingers. Her eyes are swollen but she's a cute little thing and I admire her calmness.
"Hmm, somewhere quiet and where you can tell everything you want", I snatched a look and winked at her then gazed back to the road. A few meters from where we are heading, I saw the happy place I always pass by.
"T-thank y-you nga pala for saving me back there. If it's not for you, I would've cried in front of everyone at nagmukhang loser", her face lit up a bit while gently tapping my right hand. She faced the road and smiled and I can't help but stare at her by any chance
"You're welcome, D! I got your back", I told her while consistently facing the road.
"Why'd you do that?", there, she asked the question I'm frightened to answer
"I found a note sa lady's restroom telling me to follow my instincts eh. There, I did. I'm sorry for butting in, ha? I just wanted to help out", I scratched my head and slowed the car down getting ready for the night out
"N-no, don't apologize. You did great haha thank you sa owner ng note na yun", she laughed a genuine one and I can't bear to resist the strong force attracting me to scan her facet
Natameme na ako saglit.
"J-jema?", her voice echoed in my head
"H-hey, s-sorry. Hmm baba na tayo?", I offered after stopping the engine. We went out and I got some stuffs needed from the back of the vehicle.
"Are you really planning to stay outside? May tent ba tayo? Pagkain? Fire?", paranoid niyang tanong. Rich kiddo talaga siya.
"Relax! I know what I'm doing. Trust me. Paranoid ka", I answered while stopping myself from laughing at her priceless reaction
"I-it's just that... It's my first time", she bit her lower lip and made a face while facing the floor
I slowed down the car for no reason and held Deanna's hand.
"Do not fear, I got you", I told her and gently patted her head
Nagkatinginan kaming dalawa, walang gustong kumawala sa titig ng bawat isa.
Papalapit.
Nang papalit.
Then.
My phone suddenly rang.
I bit my lower and distanced myself to her.
