Daffodils
Lipstick
And detergent
That's what you smelled like.
Amo
That's what I feel towards you.
From vulnerability to strength, you've raised me up
you held me hand and told me not to interrupt
My own heart's yearning and dreams
You told me to chase what I desired the most with haste
You told me that it does not matter what the world sees
For you see who you truly are and what you truly please
you lent me your strength as I over came my battles
The heartache
The pain
And the hurt
And whatever else that came with it
You taught me that the two sides of the same coin had different faces
That the heart sung a different tune for the world and for your heart to chase
So I sought out the place
That I dearly coveted for myself
There I did not find gold, music, or wealth
There I found love
Love that was lent to me, so long ago
When you, my dear granny had decided to forgo
Living her life
Just to begin mine.
I found myself in your arms
Listening to you hum a lullaby as you caressed my hair, soothing out all alarms
Here in this heaven of warmth, you cocooned me with love
And coerced me to build a legacy for myself.
You forged my will of steel and sharpened my blade of knowledge
so I thank you for
Never stopping
Never ceasing
Never halting
Never dismissing me
Because never will I
Forget that you are my one and only,
Dearest Granny
and if by change you ever read this, salamat sa lahat ng pagmamahal na ibinigay mo saakin. mahal na mahal kita.
sincerely yours, Mia x
