Month 4: January 18th (Jace's Birthday) _______________________________________ "What's all this?" Jace asked as Simon removed the blindfold that had been tied gently around the shadowhunters eyes. Simon turned the older male towards him and wrapped tightly around his waist. "Happy Birthday Jace." He said softly, the corners of his lips curling upwards into a smile. Jace turned his head to look at the bathroom once more. The tub in the far right was full with steaming water awaiting the two. He could see rose petals (his favourite flower) scattered along the surface. He sniffed the air and smelt the wonderful scent of lilac. His favourite scent. Well, his favourite scent had actually been Simons cologne. But ever since he had gotten pregnant the smell sickened him. Any scent too strong made him unbelievably nauseous. He could only handle two scents which in time the two found out was lilac, and dove soap. "I couldn't find a candle that smelt like dove soap. So I got lilac instead." Simon shrugged, staring deep into the shadowhunters eyes. Jace felt his heart gush, Simon really was the sweetest thing. "You're too cute Si." Jace giggled leaning in to peck his lips with his own. Simon felt his cheeks flush. "D..do you like it?" He asked anxiously, he worried that something would trigger his nausea or mood swings. "I love it baby." Jace admitted happily, placing a gentle hand on his cheek. "Thank you." Simon gazed down at his feet, nodding. "C'mere." Jace said, snaking his arms around the vampires neck. Simon looked up at the blonde male and before he could speak his lips were met with his lovers. Jace pushed Simon backwards, gently pressing his back again the the wall. Simon tensed up at the sudden gesture but as the kiss grew more intense he eased into the shadowhunters lips. He felt Jace nibble at his lips with his teeth. Simon whimpered, which cause his lips to part enough for Jace to slide his tongue inside. Simon sighed into Jace's mouth feeling the other males tongue against the roof of his mouth. This drove Jace crazy, he took the collar of Simons shirt and tugged at it gently. The kiss was getting more and more heated, and the two were getting hungrier for each other. Jace slid his hands under the younger males shirt and crept his warm fingers over his cool stomach. Simon moaned silently, loving the heat the radiated off of them and onto his skin. Jace began to pull at the shirt, trying to take it off without breaking the kiss. But unfortunately he was unsuccessful. Simon pulled away for a moment making Jace pout. "Let me help you." He chuckled, wriggling out of his shirt. "Better?" He asked, tossing it to the floor. "Much better." Jace nodded leaning in to latch his lips into the daylighters swollen ones. "Jace.." Simon said between kisses. "Hmm?.." he responded, humming into his mouth. "The..the bath.." he replied into Jace's lips. Jace pulled away sighing. He wished he had magic like Magnus, so that he could flick his fingers and they'd be able to get undressed without the effort. "Right.." he nodded turning to the lonely porcelain tub in the corner. When he turned back to Simon he saw he had already removed his pants and boxers. Jace swallowed, he still couldn't get over how beautiful Simons naked body was. He had the most cutest tummy, and the cutest little abs Jace had ever seen. But what attracted Jace the most was his beautiful pink lips. They were so unbelievably soft and kissable he thought he'd melt into a puddle when he looked at them. "Like what you see?" He asked, smiling sexily, posing for the shadowhunter. Jace nodded, gushing like a teenager who had just kissed their crush for the first time. Simon laughed stepping closer to him and ran his hands up the fabric of Jace's shirt. "Are you going to get undressed or are you going to bathe in your clothes?" He asked sarcastically making Jace grin like an idiot. "Shut up." He joked and reached down to pull his shirt off. He then slid his hands to his pants and fiddled with the belt. The moment he was naked their lips were together again. "Come on." Simon said pulling away for a moment to take Jace by the arm. "Let's get in the water before it gets cold." He smiled leading the other male over to the bath. He helped Jace in first, not wanting him to fall. "Thank you." He smiled up at Simon. Simon nodded smiling back at him. Jace sank slowly into the water, immediately the heat surrounded him, comforting him like a blanket. He let out a moan of satisfaction. "Oh this..this is heaven.." he sighed, tilting his head back, closing his eyes for a moment. Simon stepped in a moment later and sat down into the water. "Wow..you're right." He agreed. Jace opened his eyes and saw Simons chocolate brown eyes staring at him with so much adoration it sent shivers down his spine. "Why are you looking at me like that?" He asked, chuckling softly. Simon shook his head, not removing his gaze from Jace's blue eyes. "Because you're beautiful." Simon admitted with a shrug. "Si.." Jace blushed. Simon placed his hand under the older man's chin and lifted his head up. "Don't be embarrassed for blushing. I think it's the most adorable thing I've ever seen." He told him, stroking Jace's warm cheek with the pad of his thumb. Jace blushed harder, "S..seriously?" He asked, swallowing the lump in his throat. Simon furrowed his brows, knitting them together. "Are you kidding me? Of course it is. Everything about you is adorable." He smiled. "You're beautiful Jace Herondale. So beautiful." Jace was a gushing mess, he felt like his heart would explode from the love he had for this man. "Stop...you're making me blush." He giggled anxiously. Simon shook his head, running a hand down the shadowhunters neck. "No seriously. The moment I saw you, you took my breath away. The way you just stood there, wearing that extremely sexy leather jacket..a sword in your hand..it was love at first sight.." he smiled. "Aw..Simon.." Jace chuckled. Suddenly the vampires smile turned into a frown faster then Jace could blink. "I..I was absolutely love struck when I heard you talk to Clary..your voice was like heaven to me.. and I wanted to tell you how cute you looked in that outfit when I walked up to you but..you were strict with me..I didn't know why..I thought you hated me.." Simon said sadly, the tension in the air getting heavier. He didn't mean to bring this up on Jace's birthday but he had to know why Jace was so cruel to him in the beginning. Jace swallowed, pursing his lips as he gazed down at the water. He remembered how horrible he had felt when he treated Simon the way he did. He thought he'd never get the chance with him after that. But he was lucky enough to be able to make up for his terrible actions. "I..I didn't hate you Simon." Jace said sadly, the feeling of guilt flooding back to him just like when he and Simon had been distant a few years ago. Simon's breath hitched hearing Jace admit that. But he was still hurt, and upset with him for not telling him the truth the moment they became a couple. Memories of hatred and sadness came flooding back to the vampire. A certain one in particular hit him the hardest. "J..Jace?" Simon stammered, his hands trembling nervously. Jace who had just finished downing a beer turned to him. "What do you want mundane?" He asked sternly. His voice hard and tense. "I.um..I need to tell you something.." Simon replied. His heart beating against his chest so hard he felt like it would burst through. Jace opened another beer and sighed. "Alright. Make it quick. I have better things to do then to make conversations with a mundane." He laughed sipping at his drink. Simon sighed knowing that what he was about to say would only make things worse between them. But he already hated Simon, so what was there to loose? "I..um..I..." he stammered, beginning to panic. "Spit it out, I don't have all day." Jace moaned in annoyance. Simon inhaled a deep breath and clenched his fists so hard they turned white. "I like you.." Simon blurred out. Immediately regretting the decision. But there was nothing he could do now. It was out in the air, and he couldn't take it back. Jace stood there, completely silent for a few moments causing Simon's nerves to become worse and worse, when finally he told him how he felt. "Stay away from me." He demanded backing away from the mundane. Simon fixed his glasses to see if he was seeing this correctly. He was. "Stay the hell away from me. I don't want to see you ever again." "Simon?" Jace asked breaking the younger male from his daze. Simon shot his head up, worried he had been lost in his mind for too long. "Why did you act the way you did when I admitted my feelings to you?" Simon asked without any hesitation. Jace looked at Simon, his expression suddenly sad. Simon felt like a total asshole. It was Jace's birthday and he had to bring this up now, of all days. "I..um.." Jace breathed out. Simon reached forward, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Never mind..I'm sorry I brought this up on your birthday." Simon sighed, knowing Jace was hurting now and it was all his fault. Jace shook his head moments later. "No..I...I want to talk about this. I owe you an explanation for why I was such an asshole to you." Jace choked out, not looking up to look at Simon. "Jace..we can talk about this another time okay?.." Simon offered, placing a hand on his knee. "No..Simon this has to come out now. I can't hold it in anymore..and since we're about to start a family..I don't want any tension between us. I want to have a truthful relationship. Keeping things like this bottled up is bound to cause problems. So please let me tell you why I..why I hurt you.." Jace pleaded, looking up at Simon with shining eyes. Simon could see he was fighting back tears. "When you admitted your feelings to me..I..I was afraid.." Jace said, his voice scratchy and nervous. Simon furrowed his brows in confusion. "What?" He asked. "Why?.." Jace inhaled deeply and held it. "Because I didn't want to tell you I felt the same way.." Jace breathed. "I..I liked you too Simon..but I was scared to admit it because my parents were..they were very homophobic..they wanted us to marry women. Because apparently being gay was a disappointment to them. They said if either one of us were gay, they'd kick us out and never speak to us again.." Jace explained, he couldn't control the tears anymore and allowed them to spill down his cheeks. Simon felt his heart shatter when Jace told him this. How could someone be so horrible to their child? "But..but Alec came out in front of everyone..how come you didn't?.." Simon asked, still not sure of why Jace had hurt him that night. "Because Alec was their first born, their favourite. So was Izzy..they'd do anything they said..but me?.. I was adopted..they didn't care about me..they only kept me because Alec was my parabatai and they gave him whatever he wanted." Jace sniffed, his voice cracking with sadness. "And the reason I dated Clary was because I didn't want them to suspect anything when I kept looking at guys around the institute. I was scared if they found out that I was gay..that I'd loose my family..and I already been through that..I didn't want to go through it all over again." Jace squeaked, his sobs becoming more intense. Simon felt horrible. How had he no idea that Jace was going through all of that? "W..when Alec kissed Magnus in front of everyone at his own wedding..I found the confidence in me to finally admit my feelings to you. Sure it took weeks after that, but I..I was nervous to say something because I didn't think you'd ever want to see me again after the horrible way I treated you.." Jace wheezed, bursting into a blubbering sob. "I..I thought I lost you.. the only person I've ever truly felt a spark with.. I thought he was gone..and I was so depressed when you didn't answer my texts or my calls..and sure I deserved it..but all I wanted was to see you again.." Jace bawled. "I..I thought I'd never find you..until I saw you with Clary one day..I knew I had to act fast. So I grabbed you by the arm, and I kissed you in front of everyone. Not caring who the hell saw me." Jace admitted, his chest heaving with sobs. "I..I don't think I've apologized enough..I'm so sorry Simon.. for everything I put you through back then.. you were going through so much.. with the change..with you having to leave your mother thinking you were dead..I..I'm so so sorry Simon..I don't know how you could still want to stay with me.." Jace cried, he felt like the biggest asshole known to mankind. He didn't dare look up at Simon. "Hey!" Simon said suddenly. He lifted his chin so he could look at him. "I would never leave you Jace. I love you more then words can speak. I don't care about what happened in the past. All I wanted to know was the truth. And I'm so sorry I didn't know you were going through all of that. I should have known something was going on that night when you acted like you were afraid of me when I told you how I felt. " Simon said, running a finger across Jace's cheek. Jace couldn't reply, he was too worked up to even open his mouth. "Look at me Jace." Simon pleaded, stroking his fingers through his blonde hair. Jace slowly looked up at the vampire. His eyes were blood red from crying and his cheeks were stained with tears. "Forget the past. It's over with. What matters now is we're here, together, about to start a family together. And what matters most is that we love each other. That's all we need." Simon said with a small smile. "I love you Jace." He finished. Jace swallowed his tears and smiled a bit hearing Simon say those words. "I love you too." He admitted. "I'm sorry again.." he sighed, beginning to cry again. Simon stopped him by pressing his lips against Jace's. Jace gasped at the sudden gesture. He kissed Simon back slowly, his breathing still uneven from crying. But soon Jace calmed down. Simon pulled away, cuddling his lover close, making sure Jace didn't cry anymore. Making sure he was okay. It took about 15 minutes for the older boy to finally calm down. When he did Simon sat up and turned to Jace. "I almost forgot!.." he cried getting to his feet. "I have one last gift for you. " he smiled climbing out of the bath. Jace watched him as he walked over to the sink. He grabbed something off the counter and come back to the bath. He stepped into the water again and sat back down. "I bought this from lush." He said pulling a purple bath bomb out of the bag he had in his hand. "I had it made just for you." He smiled. "There's a special surprise in there for you. " he told him as he handed the shadowhunter his gift. Jace laughed as he took the sphere shaped thing into his hand. He could smell lilac the moment he held it. He gazed up at Simon, beaming with happiness. This was one of the many reasons he loved Simon. Because of his cheesy gifts. "Oh Simon.." he chuckled. "I love you so much." He grinned and slowly set the bath bomb into the water. Jace watched in awe as if fizzed around the water, slowly making the water purple. He wanted to know what it felt like wet so he scooped it out of the water and squished it into his palm. When he opened it back up he saw his hand was a dark purple colour. He dipped his hand back into the water to get it off. The moment he set it back into the water he heard something hit the bottom of the tub. It must have been the surprise Simon was talking about. Simon saw where it fell and pointed to it. "I think it fell right there by your leg." He said. Jace nodded and reached down, feeling for whatever it was. He suddenly grabbed hold of something hard. Jace couldn't tell what it was. Only that it was smaller then the bath bomb. He lifted it out of the water and opened his hand. He couldn't believe his eyes. In his palm was a single silver ring. He could feel his heart drop to the pit of his stomach as he slowly looked back up at Simon. "S..Simon.." he squeaked in absolute shock. Simon smiled taking the ring from Jace. He held it out and came closer. "I know that this isn't usually how it's done..but I wanted to be unique, you know how I like to do things the cheesy way." He laughed nervously. "Yeah.." Jace replied with an anxious chuckle. Simons face became serious now. He looked deeply into the shadowhunters ocean blue eyes, nervous to ask the question he had been dying to ask for months. "Jace..I know we've only been dating for 9 months now..but I want to share my life with you. I want to start this family with you and only you. I don't want anyone else. You make me feel things I have never felt for anyone before. You're the one Jace. You're the one I want to marry, the one I want to have children with, the one I want to be with for the rest of my life....so I need to know..Jace Herondale..will you please do the honour of making me the happiest man alive and marry me?" He asked, his voice trembling with nervousness. This question could either make things better or worse. Simon wasn't prepared. When Jace didn't say anything at first he thought he had fucked everything up. But Jace burst into tears a few seconds later, a smile so big it hurt Jace's face crept up into his lips. "Are you crazy?! Of course I'll marry you!" He cried leaning in to kiss the vampire. It was a sloppy, hard kiss full of emotion. Simon started to cry too. He couldn't hold it in anymore. He had never been so relieved before. Jace said yes! He had never felt so much love for one person in his life. Jace had to pull away to make sure this was actually happening. Simon slid the ring onto Jace's ring finger and smiled up at him. "I love you so much." He laughed leaning in to kiss him again. "I love you too Simon." He grinned latching his lips to Simon's. ________________________________________Hey guys! Bet you never saw that coming lol. I made a longer chapter this time! I really hope you enjoyed!
