Guys..please ignore the really bad translations of the reader speaking spanish LMAO. I used google translate. Sorry if the words are a bit basic to all the other quackity stories out there.

"So.."

"How is it with you and Michael? Things are going well I assume..?" She asked, her brows slightly raised as she gave you a questioning look. You looked up from your lunch, clearly taken aback from her question; especially after the twenty minutes of silence that sat between the two of you. "Huh?"

"You know.. you and Michael," she gestured for you to continue, "How are you guys?" You poked your beef stew absentmindedly, not even bothering to look at her. "Yeah, it's great- it's going great." She nodded her head in understanding before going back to her own lunch. "Never been better." You gave her a slight smile. It was pretty obvious that she only hung out with you because of Michael. That, and she had a crush on him that stuck out like a sore thumb that Michael somehow remained oblivious to.

Truthfully, you had hoped that your's and Michael's relationship would end. You'd never admit it, but things just weren't the same as your "honey moon phase" of your relationship. Things were different; you felt different towards him. Maybe it would give his best friend a chance at getting with him, she probably fantasized the thought of the two of you breaking up anyway.

But, Michael was a good guy- a great guy even. You wouldn't have gotten with him if you didn't think he was somewhat appealing. That's why it's best to end things when it's still-

You jolted from your seat as two hands placed themselves on your shoulder affectionately. Michael. "Did I scare you?" he laughed, leaning down to give you a kiss on the cheek. "How have my two favorite people been?" He sat down next to you, slinging his arm around your shoulder protectively. "Rachel, how was finals? I heard Ms. Smith's class was terrible." The girl that across from you broke into a lively chatter, one that she was most likely suppressing the twenty minutes you were sitting with her. You wouldn't blame her, she was his best friend after all.

You sighed quietly, shifting in your seat to find any bit of pleasantness from their comfortable chat. Frankly, you just wanted to be alone at the moment. After a few minutes of the odd bickering from the two you finally spoke up,

"I'm going to go dump my lunch." "I'll be right back. I can't stand eating this shit for one more second." You spoke to Michael, glancing up at his face from your spot pressed into his side. He looked at his watch, it was 12:54. "Hey, why don't I go with you and we can walk to class together?" He said. "Lunch is over in 2 minutes."

"Hmm..okay. Let's go then."  You had to admit that you purposefully wanted to walk to class alone this time, but it's like he was attached to you by the hip. "Alright..Rachel, we're gonna head to class.." he trailed. "So we'll see you later?" Rachel gave a shy nod, "Oh okay, I'll see you tomorrow!" She was love sick for him, no denying it.

Giving a small wave, he turned me into the direction of the trash cans to dump my lunch. Rachel's face held a disappointing frown that Michael hadn't noticed yet again. God, you felt bad for her in this situation. It definitely wasn't nice to see your best friend dating someone when you liked them. At least she'll be happy when you'll  have to break the news to him eventually..

"I'll make sure to call you tomorrow, I have a bunch of finals I need to study for." You spoke tiredly. "Don't worry I can get it done by tonight." You regretted giving your number to your classmate. Their constant bombardment of text-messages and calls telling you to finish up the project by Wednesday was getting irritating. It was Friday. You had 5 more days to finish up the project. Why couldn't anyone understand you were a major procrastinator? Just because it wasn't done right away didn't mean it wasn't ever going to be done. "Okay, see you tomorrow in class, bye."

Throwing down your phone onto the bed, you hurtled yourself facedown into the comfy bedding. You groaned softly which was muffled. Fumbling for your phone on the bed, you finally grasped it, pulling your face up to look at the time. "Eh, it's only 3:45," you spoke to no one but yourself, "I have time to take a quick nap." You grinned, you could finally catch up on much needed sleep after-

"Mi hija (my daughter)?" Your eyes split open to glance up at your doorway. There your mother stood holding up a large box of what seemed to be bunches of paper. Seeing your awaken form, she sauntered into the room, sitting down onto your bed before placing the box next to her. Curiously, you peered into the box. "Pensé que te gustaría revisarlo ... (Thought you'd like to look through it...)" You hummed, finally picking up one of the contents from the box. "Cosas de antes de que nos fueramos? (Things from before we left?)" You had been sleepy seconds ago, but your interest was piqued from the old memories; memories of before you left Mexico.

She nodded, placing her hand on your cheek, rubbing it softly in a comforting way. "Donde encontraste todo esto? (Where'd you find all of this?)" She patted your cheek once more, "Las he mantenido en un lugar secreto," "Pensé que te gustaría volver a mirarlas un día. (I've kept them in a secret place. I thought you might like to look at them one day.)" Quietly your mother removed her hand from your cheek and moved to leave the room. She whispered a small "I love you" before she left. You smiled, you loved your mother and her small gestures of love.

Wiping your face from the tiredness in your eyes, you continued to sort through the plies of papers and shrinkets, before you finally came upon something that made your heart stop for a moment. You pulled out a slightly faded letter that gave the impression of it being weathered by rain. That's weird, I wonder who this is from, who was writing letters? In soft, neat hand writing, your name was written on the envelope.

The writing looked oddly familiar.
