CHANNEL 708 // you reach for the television remote to turn the machine on. your thumb hovers over a grid of numbers before pressing on them to form a number: 708. the white glow from your face dissolves as the screen in front of you flashes an angry warning sign: NO SIGNAL AVAILABLE. and suddenly, with a zap, the television shuts off. there was an 'aha!' moment in your head and you remembered: you forgot to pay your electricity bills. you look to the right of you and saw envelopes stacked on top of one another on the coffee table. 'one of these must be it.' your eyes catch onto the dreaded logo of the utility company on the topmost envelope. you rip open the envelope and your face turns bitter after looking through all the numbers. you ran your fingers through your hair in frustration, strands caught up between the slopes of your fingers, but shortly after, you decided take a closer look into all the costs:
