Mary Jane's P.O.V.
Hello everyone. Welcome to my home, Textopolis. It's actually inside of Alex's phone. I know you don't know me yet, but you already knew Gene Meh, the multi-expressive emoji. He's the one who makes things possible that there are few, some or most emojis that can express more than one feeling. My dad is the best. That's right! I'm his daughter! My name is Mary Jane Meh. I'm a Meh emoji... and also a princess emoji, because my dad married a princess, my mom, Linda. My dad and Uncle Hi-5 called her Jailbreak, because, well... she hates her life as a princess. I think you already know my mom, dad, and Uncle Hi-5's story of how they met, get into the cloud, blah, blah, blah. You also knew that my grandfather, Mel Meh, was the supervisor of Text Center, replacing Smiler, who almost killed... or, I say, erased, my family. I really despised her when my parents told me about her. It's a good thing I don't have to meet her. This isn't about my mom, dad or my grandparents anymore. This is all about me. My life is complicated when I realized I was a half-meh, half-princess. I don't know which I should choose. I have to decide before it's my time to get into the cube. Honestly, I don't like being a princess. My mom experienced it. I can be a meh, but how can I be a meh if I can make any other feelings than meh, like my dad and grandfather? This is serious. Back when I was a kid, the other kid emojis laughed at me because I'm both princess and meh, which is very rare that an emoji can be half of both of his or her parents. I never make friends with anybody, and they think I'm a freak or a weirdo. My only friends were Poop Jr., Poop's son, and Uncle Hi-5's nephew, Handy. They were very kind to me, and so close to me. They were like my 'knights in shining armor' when someone tried to make fun of me. They were the closest best friends I ever had. I also love my family. I love my parents. I don't care my dad is different. I still love him. I also love my mom. I think she's perfect, just the way she is, even with or without her disguise. I often borrowed her black beanie because I think it looks good on me. Between my parents' parents, Grandpa Mel and Grandma Mary are the best grandparents ever. Between you and me, Grandpa mel is my favorite, because he always stood up to me when his fellow emojis think I'm out of control of playing around like normal kids do. My other grandparents, the King and Queen, want me to be a proper princess, just like what they want with my mom. I pretended to obey them just to make them proud and tried not to disappoint them. When I'm out of their sight, I can do whatever I want: hanging out with my friends, have fun, and making faces other than meh. I was known as 'the daughter of Gene' to all of Textopolis, and I'm comfortable with that. I lived in Grandpa Mel and Grandma Mary's apartment. My parents lived there too, but they were so busy with their jobs in Text Center. My dad is in the cube and my mom is in the scanner with two programming chips to scan my dad if Alex chooses him. And since I'm at the right age, I'm ready to be in a cube. Honestly, I still haven't decided what I want to be. Either being a princess, replacing my mom and her sisters, or being a meh, taking my Grandma Mary's place since my dad is still a multi-expressive emoji, as so was my Grandpa Mel, but, sometimes, he doesn't need to be in the cube because he let Gene to do the job, and always busy for being a supervisor. I guess I have to think that over once I'm ready to get out of the apartment, but I have to fix myself first before going out.
I'm a yellow emoji with green eyes, a swift hair on her bangs, long straight yellow hair, and also wear a shiny, golden crown, with a little orange jewel embedded in it. I looked at her mirror, and combed my hair a little. "I gotta be 'meh'. I gotta be 'meh'" I made a meh expression on the mirror before walking out of my room proudly. I nearly forgot to bring my mother's beanie. I won't go without it.
Once I stepped out of her apartment, my face turned meh, and encountered a mother donut emoji, "Morning, Mrs. D."
"Oh, good morning, Your Majesty," The donut emoji bowed to me while holding a carriage.
"I see you have the little minis with you," As I looked at the minis, my meh face changed into face with tears of joy when I couldn't help but seeing how cute the minis are. "Aww, there's so cute!" I continued to walk on the sidewalk, and stropped near the traffic light. It's hard to always act blase, when living in Textopolis is just so exciting. While I was standing there, I kept practicing my meh, until a shrimp was beside and noticed what I did.
"Whatcha doing there, mate?" He asked
"Practicing. Today is my first day on the phone," I answered excitingly."Have you decided what you are going to be today?"
"No yet, but I will once I get to the Text Center. What are you gonna do?"
"Me and the boys are gonna throw ourselves on the barbie!" Then, a glass of sauce approached, and the shrimp into it. "Here's my sauce now."
"G'day, mate." I waved goodbye at him. Then, I noticed the clock emoji which the time was almost 8:30am. "It's that the time?" I gasped
"Hey, my eyes are up here, lady." Clock Emoji pointed his eyes, and glared at me.
Ignoring the clock, I jumped to grab the heart-shaped balloon string, and lifted me all the way to the Text Center. I landed safely on the ground when I let go of the balloon string. I walked towards the doors with my meh face, trying to blend in. Just then, I noticed that a cloud emoji was showing a friend that our user, Alex, sent an elephant emoji with the cloud behind it. I laughed so hard at that joke, until I quickly covered my mouth when everyone around stared at me. As a princess, I wasn't supposed to laugh at jokes. I should respond "yuck" or "ugh" or "ew" or being snobbish because of that joke, but I couldn't help myself. I continued to walk towards the floor with my hands on my mouth while the others are still staring at me. Now, unlike me, my grandparents are total pros, which, coincidentally, they showed up when the doors are opened.
"Mary Jane, please tell me you weren't laughing just now. In public," Grandpa Mel asked.
"Uuuhhhh...." I'm not supposed to answer that, but the face with tears of joy emoji interrupted me.
"She was. I remember," He responded.
"Let's go somewhere more private," Grandpa said.
