         I feel frustrated

I am fixed to a spot

         My freedom is limited

         To only kicks and turns.

I desire to explore

As far as my feet take me

But I cannot move on my own

Mommy has to carry me.

           I dream of running wild.

To jump, to sprint, to gallop.

           Look at all those adults

           See their unrestricted movement

           How lucky could they get!

My tiny legs yearn to walk

And take me on an endless tour.

But what if I fall down?

I cannot bear the pain

Many a times that it has happened

I will not make myself a fool again!

"But don't you want to explore?" I ask myself

           "Don't you want to play?"

           "Don't you want to learn?"

           "Can mommy carry you always?"

           No, I will try again

It does not matter if I fall!

And yet again I hold on

As I raise my body slowly

One foot forward at a time

Oops...that hurts!!

Please...not again!!

           But I will not stop

           Falling does not matter

I know my legs can do it!

There it goes, One at a time.

It seems easier now, I can do it!

Oh my God! I am moving!

My feet are taking me places!!

Yes I did it! It was really me!!

Without mommy, Without a pram!

I can walk and explore on my own!!

Off I go, chasing the butterflies!!
