Chapter 16: Salem's Castle

The Land Of Darkness, Salem's Castle

Team RWBY were running through Salem's Castle, looking for the black liquid Holly needs

While they were searching, they came across a moustached man and a scorpion faunus. The girls got into their battle stances as the moustached man came forward.

Dr. Watts: Greetings, girls. My name is Dr. Watts, and this maniac is Tyrian. As you can guess, he is a scorpion faunus, as indicated with the stinger on his back. Salem has been expecting you to show up for some time, but she'd much rather not get her hands dirty. I myself am not much of a fighter, but she wanted me to come along and report on what happened.

Yang: So, wait, you're not fighting us?

Dr. Watts: I'm not. He is.

Tyrian: *Laughs maniacally* I can't wait to kill all of you! I wonder what kind of screams you girls will make!

Tyrian suddenly jumped at the girls, bringing out 2 swords that wrapped around his arms in the process. Team RWBY dodged this and Yang used the wall to propel herself forward, flying into him with a fist to his side. Before he could crash into the wall, Tyrian turned himself over and grabbed the wall with his arms and legs, almost like a spider walking on its web. He jumped towards Ruby and swung his arm at her in an attempted to cut her. Ruby blocked this with her scythe and swung it down on him. Tyrian side stepped out of the way, only to be met with numerous dust blasts from Weiss' rapier. The barrage of projectiles overcame the scorpion faunus, who tried to jump out of the way. Blake saw this and jumped towards him and brought her weapon down at him. Tyrian swung his blades at her, only for him to realize that he was attacking a shadow clone of her. The real Blake was underneath him, delivering a high kick to his stomach that launched him into the ceiling. Becoming irritated, Tyrian started to act more psychotic. He jumped down and started swinging his arms rapidly at the girls. When Yang tripped and fell back, he firmly planted his foot on her stomach, stopping here from escaping. Before he could bring his blade down, Ruby shot a few round at him, forcing him to get off to dodge. After picking Yang up, Ruby talked to her team members and formed a strategy. Weiss jumped up and as she did, she landed on Ruby's scythe. After doing so, Ruby swung her blade forward, shooting Weiss towards Tyrian with her rapier pointed right at him. He grabbed the rapier, but in doing so, opened a window for Blake to wrap the ribbon on her weapon around him. After wrapping him, she hit the side of his head, which made Tyrian fall onto the ground. As he tried to get up, Yang came out and punched the back of his head, knocking him out. Seeing this, Dr. Watts ran away. Satisfied with their victory, team RWBY continued on the search for the pools of black liquid. Little did they knew, Dr. Watts was running to Salem's room.

Another Part Of Salem's Castle

Ozpin, K. Ruel, Vanilla Ice, and N'Doul were all looking for the pools of black liquid in another part of the castle. As they were searching, N'Doul noticed something.

N'Doul: Guys, someone is coming. Someone big and full of fury.

As he finished that sentence, a large, bulky man crashed through the wall, eyes red with anger.

???: OZPIN!

K. Ruel: Ozpin, you know this guy?

Ozpin: Yes. His name is Hazel. His sister came to train at Beacon Academy to become a huntress. Sadly, she died when she was sent to a mission. He now blames me for the death of his little sister. Be careful, guys. His semblance allows him to not feel pain and absorb the power from dust.

As Ozpin finished his sentence, Hazel grabbed two fire dust crystals and stabbed his arms with them. Now having the ability to set his fists aflame, he charged at Ozpin. Before he could, multiple limbs made of water came from the ground and tried to drag him down. The source of this coming from N'Doul's water container and his use of [Geb] to manipulate it. He then created 3 spears that stabbed Hazel in the back. This didn't slow him down, though. He heated his arms to a high degree and punched the water, evaporating all of it. N'Doul backed up alongside Vanilla Ice and let everyone else take care of it because without a source of water, his [Geb] can't use its power. Vanilla Ice couldn't help either because her [Cream] would only prove fatal, and she was told by Ozpin not to kill Salem's minions. Ozpin blocked Hazel's incoming punch before hitting him multiple times with the tip of his cane. Hazel stumbled back before attempting to punch Ozpin again. K. Ruel got between the two and blocked the punch using his shield. The shield absorbed the impact and bounced the kinetic energy back to him, causing him to fall over. As Hazel got up, he was met with a large blast from K. Ruel's blunderbuss, slamming him into a wall. As he tried to get up, Ozpin slammed his cane on Hazel's head, knocking him out. After subduing Hazel, everyone ran towards the courtyard in the middle of the castle, where Ozpin suspected the black liquid was.

Courtyard

As everyone was heading to the courtyard, team RWBY reunited with everyone else except for (Y/N). Both parties continued to make their way through the castle until they finally came across the pools of black liquid. Everyone congratulated themselves before going to take samples. Just as they were about to do so, someone approached them. The figure revealed himself to be Dr. Watts. Yang approached him and grabbed him by the collar of his shirt.

Yang: What are you doing back here? Finally decided to fight us head on?

Dr. Watts: I came to see you all die.

Yang: What?! What are you talking about?

Dr. Watts: A few months ago, I discovered a mask made of stone. It had strange properties that at first, I thought it was nothing more than a complex torturing device. But Salem knew of its true origins and found a perfect use for it.

Ruby: What a minute, (Y/N) said something about a stone mask...

Ozpin stared at Dr. Watts intensely, completely blown away buy what he just said.

Ozpin: No... Don't tell me she-

???: Tell you I what, Ozpin?

Everyone quickly looked behind them to see the source of the new voice. When they did, they were met with a tall woman. She had pale white skin and hair, which was tied in. Her red veins were clearly visible to the naked eye and she had a dark mark on her forehead. But her most terrifying feature were her eyes. They were jet black all the way, only her blood red iris' interrupting the dark void that were her eyes. She kept a cool composer, almost like a innocent mother welcoming her child after a long day of being separated by school. But that's exactly what made her even more frightening. It was a clever act the hid the true strength and power that she possessed. Her voice was silky and smooth, just like a nurse calming down a crying patient.

Salem: It's been a while, Ozpin.

Ozpin: Indeed it has, Salem.
