We often see so many homeless men and women lying on the road, sick and desolate everyday. How many of us bother to provide them with the bare minimum necessities, like a roof above their heads or even minimum or basic medication to heal their wounds? But there are good Samaritans in the society who believe in giving these homeless ones a shelter and a second chance to live.

The Second Chance is a home for the dying and the destitute whose director is a 22 year old, Jasper Paul. The home was set up when Jasper was 19 years old, It is a Hyderabad-based NGO that renders a destitute rescue and rehabilitation service. Launched in April 2017, this home for the destitute and homeless, in a short span of one year, has achieved a lot. From being a home with one volunteer and one resident, it has come up to currently housing 40 people and recently managed to open a second center in Ghatkesar, as well as Keesra.

The 22-year-old social activist, when asked how The Second Chance came to be, he recalls being in a freak accident where his car was completely smashed, but he came out without a scratch. He says, "God gave me a second chance and I think these people deserve it too." It was two months after the accident that he founded the organisation. Jasper is the ray of hope in the lives of 300 destitute people of which 42 of them are currently living in the trust he started for them, aptly called The Second Chance Home.

The step that Jasper Paul has taken to save a so many lives proves that humanity still prevails in this world. There are still people who think more about others than themselves for, who would give up their entire life and spend it looking after the needy? We hope that there are more people like Jasper in this world who look after the old and the poor and hence makethis world a better place to live in.
