Three months feel like more and strangers become allies. In the fight for their lives, for their sanity and for their humanity.
Gamora does just as she promised she would. Over the next few months, they manage to gather the remains of the body that they can find. They find a large plot of land that is mostly untouched. They start slowly in the beginning, digging a few graves and burying the bodies in them. Gamora is the one who suggests that they try to identify the bodies. The ones that have not completely deteriorated. A few of them are still able to be identified and they spend their time looking through records to figure out what they can about them before painting it onto the makeshift tombstones.
Five, as it turns out, is a talented artist and he takes on the job of painting the headstones. She thinks they work well together when they're not arguing or taking jabs at each other. Being the last two people on Earth brings them together in a way that would be otherwise impossible. They've really only known each other for a few weeks but she feels as if she's known him forever. She thinks it has something to do with the constant threat of death by starvation, some strange disease or a cruel twist of fate, looming over them at every waking minute. They become a team of sorts, banding together to survive. He's starting to grow on her even if he is a sarcastic piece of shit. He tells her everything that he could possibly think about and in return, she spills all of her secrets.
