The shoes had seen better days, their once beautiful colors surrounding them. Struggling to hold the pieces together. Every scuff and scratch seemed to tell a story of the miles they had traveled and the places they had been. But as I gazed upon them, the missteps and wrong turns that had led me to where I stood.

And yet, I couldn't help but wonder what might have been if I had taken a different road. a reminder of a different time, a time when I thought I could conquer the world. whatever it was, I knew deep down that I would never wear them again, not because they were out of style or too worn, but because they reminded her of a time she couldn't go back to.
