So, in this AU your soulmates thoughts will be written on your wrist, and I don't know how to write a nightmare, so, please just roll with it. And I know some of you are probably fed up by the amount of fics Stony gets and the other ships don't, but they just fit the storyline the best.

Steve had never had anything written on his wrist.

Nothing.

Everyone had something written on their skin, even if it was only one word or maybe even just a letter.

But not Steve.

Bucky had always had something on his skin and his mark changed constantly, which meant his soulmate was alive somewhere in the world, but Steve hadn't.

When Steve was born, there was just reasoned that his soulmate was still a baby and couldn't think yet, and later that maybe they weren't born yet and Steve was just older than them. But Steve began to lose hope after he turned 15, he didn't want a soulmate much younger than him, nothing against those people, but if he would die then he would leave them behind for a good 20 years until they could join him in the afterlife.

So here he was, a 19 year old soulmate less guy, but he hoped, he hoped so much, that someday, suddenly a mark would appear with a thought, maybe just even 'food' or 'toy' or just something. He didn't care about the age difference anymore, he just wanted to prove to all those bullies that he wasn't a freak, or an abnormality. That he had a soulmate.

That someone was meant for him, that he wasn't going to die alone, because he had done research and went to a doctor, and he was the only soulmate less person in the entire world. So nobody was going to want him, everyone wanted their soulmate, the one they were destined to be with.

Maybe his soulmate was dead, he thought, but that possibility was cast aside quickly too. He asked around by widows, and the last thought of your soulmate if they died was always going to be tattooed on your skin(one had even discovered her husband had been cheating on her in his last thought, which Steve found quite amusing, but he didn't say that to her though).

When he ran into Peggy, he had hoped, maybe, he just didn't have a mark, but she was his soulmate. But then she had confessed to him, that it just didn't make sense that he was her soulmate, because when he had jumped on the grenade, her soulmate had been thinking about cheese, so that was the end of that relationship.

And when he was in that plane, there were countless ways to save himself, there were probably parachutes and he could just jump out, but he figured if he didn't have a soulmate, maybe it was for the best.

Tony's soulmate was weird, not like weird thoughts weird, but just strange.

They somehow never formed a coherent thought, and most of the time they didn't even think anything, which was impossible unless they were a baby, Tony had studied it, but he didn't really want a soulmate 30 years younger.

Sometimes 'war' flashed across his skin, or 'soulmate', but never a whole sentence, once the word 'huh' was there, but that was the most human thing that had ever flashed across his wrist. Tony hid it, of course, he built something that flashed words across his skin, because the press would have a field day if they discovered it, can you imagine, it would be over every newspaper, 'Tony Stark no soulmate!'.

He had just let normal sentences flash across his wrist, like 'which pizza?' or 'ugh, that old lady is always so slow, or 'why do I always run into that old dude with a moustache everywhere?'. You know, normal stuff.
