Angelina is running away from her almost mafia husband. She is fleeing from LA from her best friend,Alex, who drugged her and almost trafficked her. When she hides in an abandoned building in NYC & runs down a flight of stairs into a new family.
Back and forth as the rains of New York overflow the bad side of this city. I was desperate & shivering as I duck into a stable but abandoned building. I can make out the cracked walls in the dim light as the fire wood scent hits. The dark room stands for all things abandoned, but is safer than the streets. I am scared to death that if I stay on the streets for one more minute longer, Alex might find me & there is no saying what he can do.

"Hello??" I call out, I am standing close to the entrance ,my muscles tense and my hair still, l am ready to run for it. My own voice echoes back to me, bouncing off the crippled walls. Thinking that no one is inside, I cautiously navigate my way through the room.

There's a wooden staircase leafing into a basement. I hesitate, then make my way down the creaking stairs towards the dark I see below. My heart races with my thoughts as I walk down.
As my eyes adjust to the dim of light , I see a bunch of teens who cannot be much older then me. A tall boy strides across the room right into my face..
His body is huge

And his body tells the story which makes him even scarier. The eyes which meet mine are defensive and hostile, I freeze in my tracks.
"I'm AngeTa," I say softly with hesitation in my voice."My name is Angelina," I say again with confident. I feel my skin twitch as thoughts of Alex flash through my mind. He could be above me on the streets right now.
"What are you doing here?" The smell of drugs and cigarette is strong in the air when he speaks. "I just...I need a place to stay for the night," I shiver. "I don't have anywhere else to go." Tears trim down my eyes but he doesn't seem to be least bit moved by my story. He looks like he could have more compassion about throwing me out into the night.
"Does this look like a hotel to you?" He snaps. His tense voice is deep, he eyes pierce through me, making me feel uncomfortable.
"No," I reply.
The group remains silent, none of them coming to my rescue. I look from him to the girl who is curled up in the corner of the room. Her arms wrapped around her legs and her knees against her chest. "Please," I beg him,"please let me stay."
"One night!" The girl says. "Just one night, Daniel." "Fine," Daniel says angrily as he walks back to where the other boys are sitting and they continue chatting & laughing with themselves, ignoring me. The light in the room is from the fire in the middle on the concrete floor.

The girl is now zoned out into her own world, staring consciously at the wall in front of her. Her body rocks forward & backward as she is comforting herself. I go across to her and sink to the floor next to her.
"Thanks," I say, giving heart warm smile, which she returns with a blank stare. "We are not friends," She says, dismissing my attempt to make conservation. I sigh bringing my own knees against my chin, mirroring how she sits and soon I fade into sleep.
