Wide White Walls

I lay on my back and count the lights that pass above me

Needles in my arms, and a gown on my chest

"Hush now, we'll fix you up right quick" They tell me

Before I can say anything, the light begins to fade and I fall asleep

"Tell me how your pain is, your problems"

I cannot speak, and yet they continue to furiously write with their pens

"A pill for this, a drug for that, a twist a turn, and you'll be fine. More pricks, and pins for our delight. We will make you feel right"

My stomach turns numb, my eyes begin to drag, I no longer feel anything

The rhythm of beeps and bops, snaps and tops, a droning tone to grow deaf on.

"Go to sleep, and never forget, without us, you begin to regret"
