Chapter 8-9: Take Me to the Banquet

Chapter 8: TMttB [Part 1]

“There is a banquet tonight, right?” such a bootlicking tone, one can immediately tell she is up to no good.

“Yes, there is.  How did you know?”

“I overheard people talking, but that is not important.  What I want to say is, can I come with you?” Lan Qin Yu stand by his side as she asks.

“What are you doing there for?”

“I just want to explore something I’ve never seen before.”

Qin Yu sees him trying to button his clothes and immediately rush to his side and help him put it in place.  He was startled for a moment, but let her do it, seeing her helping him like this gives him a pleasant feeling.  As for her, since she always help her father tie his necktie, helping people like this becomes some sort of a habit.

“Explore?  That is not a place anybody can go to,” Feng Tian Qing humphed.

“I am not asking you if I could go or not, I am asking you to take me with you,” she is not a weakling. She was asking him so politely, it seems he really think she has no temper.

“What if I tell you I refuse to take you?” Feng Tian Qing suddenly grew interested, purposely making things difficult.

“It’s alright.  I don’t necessarily have to depend on you to take me there anyway.  I can just go by myself.”  These past few days, she did not merely bore herself to death, she had also gotten acquainted with Xiu Er and Zi Er and had them told her a lot of things about the palace, such as where the emperor lives, where the kitchen is, where the garden is.  The general outline of the area are all within her palm now.  The main hall where the banquet is held at is such a big place, it would be even easier to get to.
The only reason she wants to go there with Feng Tian Qing is because he is the second prince.  With a prince by her side, she fears nothing.

“How are you going to get there?”

Qin Yu merrily digs out a medallion, this is actually a treasure she found inside the second prince’s chamber. With this in her hand, wherever she goes, people would have to listen to her.

“When did you took this?” Feng Tian Qing grab the arm that is holding the medal as he sternly asks.

Why such strong reaction, I merely stole your medallion ah!  (Even though it isn’t really a typical medallion
)
“I only took your medallion, why do you have to be so angry!  Idiot! Let go!  It hurts!” That cruel jerk!  He immediately grabbed her like that, the bruises from last time did not even fade yet!

Feng Tian Qing noticed her arm has turned red, so he immediately let go.

“Oh please, you never come home and I was left alone in an unfamiliar place. Of course I would want something that can help me move around easily.” He really is too much.

“Did you used the medallion?” his eyes narrowed at her dangerously.

“No, I didn’t!  These past few days, I have only been in either my chamber or your palace, I didn’t get to go to other places yet, so I’ve never had the need to use it!”  She’s never even used them and had to pay it with her bruising hand, what if she did use them, will he take her life then?  The royal family members are too stingy!

Feng Tian Qing sigh in relief when he hear her. “From now on, do not simply take my things, especially my medallion.”

“Do you think I love taking your things?” if it weren’t for you not coming home and I cannot move around without permission, I would’ve had a lot of fun by now in the imperial palace.

Chapter 9: TMttB [Part 2]

Feng Tian Qing noticed her sour expression and do something he rarely did; explain.

“My medallion has never been used by other people.  If you use it without authorization, you will be considered as an assassin and will be seized.”

There is such a thing? Then why didn’t he say so earlier instead of reacting like that. The way he speak earlier was so hostile, the more Lan Qin Yu think, the angrier she got. Being in the same room as him like this wouldn’t do. She turns around and leaves.
This lady also has a back-bone, getting yelled at by you like that, do you think I will just stand there like an idiot?

“Weren’t you asking to go to the big hall with me?” she can hear him asking from behind.  Qin Yu is too lazy to pay him any heed.  You want to act as though nothing has happened after you vent your anger on me?  Dream on! (Seems to have forgotten that she too was to blame for taking the medallion without permission.)

“Don’t have to trouble you. I’ll go by myself!”

Feng Tian Qing grab Lan Qin Yu who by then had reaches the door and says, “I was talking without thinking just now, I am sorry.  Alright?”

Even though Feng Tian Qing’s mouth says that, deep inside, he is actually confused. Since when did he start speaking so humbly to other people?

“Does apologizing makes everything okay? Things are not that easy!”  You provoked this lady, the price to pay is big!

“Then what do you want me to do?”

“Give me a medal that will grant me enough freedom to go in and out of the imperial palace, or if not, a position that allows me to!”

“Why do you want a medal that allows you entry and exit?”

“I’ve told you on the first day, I have never been on an imperial palace. Now that I have the chance to, of course I’d want to utilize it to the fullest!  You also said that the imperial palace is not a place anyone could just walk about, so with that medal, I can go around as I wish!”

Besides, if she no longer lives in the palace in the future, such a medal would be so handy, especially in the society. In historical dramas, aren’t the people from the palace the most common and the ones people are jealous of the most? As long as she flash the shiny gold piece, wouldn’t everyone be frightened by her? It would feel so awesome!

Feng Tian Qing ponders for a while, so it is like that.   Because he is the prince, he never has to bother about little things like that. He forgot that her who was born from ordinary background did not possess the same privilege.

“I will help you solve this problem after the banquet.”

“That’s great, then.”

“So, are you willing to go with me now?” Feng Tian Qing finds it weirder the more he thinks.  From the way he speaks right now, it seems like it is him who is begging that girl to accompany him. He did not notice when their position changed.

“Of course!”

Feng Tian Qing ordered Xiao De Zi to bring Qin Yu a new set of clothes, one that is obviously more extravagant than the one she is currently wearing. After all, this is the palace’s banquet.  How can she wear clothes that she wore on normal day? Even Feng Tian Qing has to go back to change his clothes.

At that moment, she did not realize that the outfit Feng Tian Qing gave her was a phoenix clothes that could only be worn by the prince’s wives.  This banquet can only be attended by the princes and their wives as well as a couple of high-ranked people after all. Her knowing all that will be a later story.
