Chapter 1 (The Catinos)

Once again Renzo Catino is being lectured to by his grandfather, Girardus Catino, an elderly man of normal stature. Timid Renzo is all of nine years old, frail with brown hair and blue eyes, and his grandfather Girardus is, well, he is old because he walks with a slight limp, has white hair, and bushy electrically-charged eyebrows shadowing icy blue eyes. The wrinkles in the old man's beardless face, the gnarled hands, the large ear lobes, and the piercing blue eyes fearfully impress Renzo, so much so, that whenever his paternal grandfather scolds him, Renzo's own blue eyes grow wide, and the contours of his mouth droop slightly ajar as he cowers to give his grandfather the proper amount of intimidation and respect any such young boy should defer to a paternal grandfather.
