"There's been a huge spike of mystical energy in California, just outside of Los Angeles."

After forty-five minutes of searching, the trio came up empty-handed. Not a single mirror to be found in the massive house- though not for a lack of trying. Billy plopped down on the couch, letting out a loud sigh.

"This is so frustrating. They don't have any right to know what goes on here. This is supposed to be a safe place, not an "Oh hey let's spy on people" place." he said bitterly, crossing his arms over his chest with a huff.

John stood at the small table behind the couch and poured himself a glass of whiskey before pouring one for Chas, glancing at the boy as he came around the couch and handed the drink to his oldest friend.

"Chin up, short-stack. We'll figure it out. Grumpy isn't a good look on you."

Chas took a sip of his drink, looking around in thought. "John, I know you don't have a phone- God knows you need one by the way, but do you have one Billy?" he asked, looking at the boy. "Cause they could be using that," he said.

The raven shook his head, raising an eyebrow as John pulled out his box of cigarettes- only for the man to slip them back into his coat with a roll of his eyes.

"No, I just have my League Communica--" he froze, expression turning sour as he suddenly face-palmed. "It's the communicator...." he grumbled, unhooking it from his belt and tossing it onto the table.

"That's the only thing that makes sense. It's gotta be, it's the only tech that's hackable, and it doesn't really even need to be if it's still doing those misdials."

John ran a hand through his hair, throwing back the rest of his drink. "Bloody bastards..." he mumbled bitterly.

Billy gave him a look as Chas picked the small device up off the coffee table. He turned it over in his hands, studying it.

"I may not be the best at it, but I can try to re-wire it for you so that you don't keep butt-dialing people," he said with a small smirk. Billy looked shocked, his eyes widened.

"You can do that?!"

Chas nodded. "Yea, I used to work at an electronics store; this can't be anything more complex than say, a cellphone with liquid so far into its box that you think they were using it as a spoon," he said with a chuckle.

Billy lit up even further, throwing himself at the man to hug him.

The brunet simply laughed, shaking his head slightly as he patted the boy's back. "It's no trouble," he said lightly as the kid slid off of him. "You think it's live right now?" he asked, turning the object over.
