A cauldron filled with audacity

Everyone was laughing to make fun of Amanda. I put myself in front of her, to cover her as best I could. I re-opened my red locker, grabbed a t-shirt that I was saving in case (and I was right to do so) and held it to her.

-Let's go to the toilet, you can change yourself fastly.

-You're going to be late because of me Sierra

-Not because of you, because of Andrea, I declared

She took the t-shirt and followed me to the girls' toilets. She went into a fitting room and I heard her bumping into the plastic door while she was changing.

-Keenly the day he would dump her, I added.

-I am looking forward to this day. We're going to celebrate it, she screamed with joy.

- Promised! And don't be sad, tomorrow, she'll already find a new victim.

-Yes, this girl chose every day a new target, at least my turn has passed.

I was laughed

-They are all giggling, because they are happy not to be at your place that's all. All sheep. But you want me to tell you?

-Yes, I'm listening, she said

- We are wolves, I declared.

-No doubt.

She stepped out of the cabin, her hair detached, flowing over the top that I had lent her. A red t-shirt.

-It's okay, you have black pants, it goes. You're pretty classy, actually, Am.

-Thank you, dear Sisi.

Amanda often called me Sisi, which always makes me smile in my heart. She was the best friend you could ever dream of.

She made a cursty. Then we went into class while laughing. I wore my math books in my arms and put them on the table on which I usually sat. Am laid her own on the table next to mine. Mr. Miller, our math teacher, didn't seem thrilled about his day. He had every day a tired look on his face. But today it was even worse.

I knew that he was only waiting for one thing, winning the lottery and going away from this high school populated with teenage people getting dumber on social networks. Our school was a real cliché niche. There was the band of the nerds, who always sat in the same place: right at the front row. They hoped every day, not to be bothered by Kyle and his gang. Yet every day, their hopes fell into the water and they received pieces of crumbled paper in the head.

In the Middle, located between the two axes of our class, neither too much in front, nor too much at the bottom, would sit all the time Andrea and her henchwomen. Young girls with fresh skin like the wind (morning Rosé) but asphyxiate under layers of makeup. I complained to their poor parents that they had to carry to raise such stupid and self-centered girls. They behaved all three as if their lives depended entirely on what Andrea Chevalier was doing or not.

This girl was taking herself for the navel of the world and was unbearable. I didn't know how humanly possible it could be to endure such a bitch. A human being as capricious as intolerable. While I was having fun thinking about how awful she was, she caught me staring at her and detailing her.

Oh, my gosh! What an idiot!

I pretended to look elsewhere, however the crisis was imminent.

- You! did she, while pointing me with her pencil, that she had already half eaten and that had to be covered with poisonous drool. Yes, what's your problem?

Embarrassed, I turned back to her, to face her.

She resumed:

-Are you clogged? I'm talking to you. She continued to articulate while eating a chewing gum that I could see from where I was sitting. Why are you staring at me like that?

-Hum, let me think, maybe because I was wondering how you can be so vulgar and stupid at the same time. I wondered if every morning before coming to class you rehearse to be on top in your role as a scatterbrained girl in high school. Oh, and then I have a name you know, but it's true that with your brain faculties it must be hard to remember it, I said.

Everyone including the teacher was silent, to listen to us. Making myself aware of what I had just done, I blushed. How could I throw myself in there? I knew the risk of high school. Rule number one: always preserve my social life at any price in order to survive until graduation. Rule number two: Find a best friend who knows my quirks, who loves me so and especially do everything to keep her.

How could I forget not to respect rule number one?

I just didn't handle that Andrea was that mean with Am, for no reason whatsoever. (she never needed any reason, a real dragon this girl).

One of the boys whistled, Theodore exploded with laughter, and then the whole class followed. Andrea appeared disconcerted during the time of a few seconds, she looked all around her and felt embarrassed. I had touched it and I had won, but what I feared despite and especially more than anything was its revenge because it was never tender, especially not that of Andrea. She began to stare at me in a dangerous way. Then realizing that Mr. Miller was only waiting for one thing was to catch me, she began to whine. She took a devastated pout and began to shed a tear, (fake tears, of course).

-How can you be cruel Ashley, I thought you were more humane than that, me, who helped you to do your math exercises last night, it's not my fault if you didn't understand it. I know that you do not love me because you have a crush on Theodore and that he is with me but that is not a reason to be so odious with me.

-You? Help me? You don't know how to lace up your own shoes, I said.

I thought I dreamed, his little cinema had not convinced anyone. But that was not her purpose, her purpose was quite different: the one that Mr. Miller penalizes me. And by chance, she knew my name! What a liar!

-Miss, Collins, in the Director's Office immediately. I would not tolerate this kind of behavior in my course, and I assume that Mr. Atter does not support this one in his establishment no longer. And it's not worth coming back, I'll see you tomorrow.

I kept my stuff in my bag, shut it and went out without even a look, yet I felt her smiling in my back. I hated her freely and with all my heart.
