For thousands of years, humans have made a stereotype towards in-humans. They thought that all of them were all horrible beasts and shouldn't exist so the in-humans went into hiding, built a thousand story castle for them to hide and for a school so the outcasts can learn magic, combat, how to tame dragons and live there for the rest of their lives or until the humans aren't evil anymore and they are free to walk around freely and not in hiding. The castle isn't even safe anymore. Humans have discovered the castle and tried to kill them but each time they have failed...
