Chapter Twenty Six

Elena's POV:

I woke up with a huge smile on my face and danced around my room. I bounced to the bathroom humming my favorite song. I sang in the shower and danced around wrapped in a towel. I brushed my teeth with a wide a smile on my face dripping the toothpaste everywhere. I was feeling giddy and I couldn't stop grinning.

The one week that I had spent without Jake made me go crazy. I just wanted to kiss him and hug him. Who would believe I have spent almost twenty years of my life without him?

Maybe that's love.

I got dressed and put my hair in a ponytail. I skipped the stairs to go to the living room where my parents were sitting and having breakfast.

"Good morning," I said taking a seat beside my mom. I gave her a toothy smile and picked a piece of fruits then threw it in my mouth.

"Good morning," My parents replied in unison. I started to giggle at them.

They looked at me in concerned and I tried to stifle my giggles.

I saw Eric making his way down and I waved my hand at him.

"Hey, twin! Have breakfast with us," I said excitedly.

He frowned and sat down on the chair opposite me.

I filled my plate with everything that was on the table and started to stuff my mouth. I was eating like a starved dog and it was making my family worried.

My mom slowly caressed my head looking concerned.

"Eat slowly, the food is not going anywhere except your stomach," she said jokingly.

I laughed loudly at her remark and my twin brother gave me a suspicious look taking a sip of his protein smoothie.

"Are you drunk or did you take some kind of a happy pill?" He asked in annoyance.

Instead of glaring at him, I smiled at him and his eyes widen in surprise.

"You're extra chirpy today. What's up with you?" He asked.

I glanced at my parents and they were also waiting for my answer.

"I am just happy. Is this a crime to smile?" I asked him.

"Your smile is kind of scary," He mumbled.

"Don't say that she is your sister. If she is happy then you should be happy for her too," Dad scowled at Eric.

He just shook his head chewing on some pancakes while staring at me. I ignored him knowing how intrusive he was.

"Elena, I have invited Jake over dinner tonight," Dad said.

"Oh..." I said pretending like I didn't know.

"Now, I get it. You're happy because your lover is coming back," Eric said with a smirk.

"Eric!" Mom and dad said in warning.

I hit him on the knee under the table and he yelped in pain.

"You were saying something," I said beaming and batting my lashes innocently.

He grumbled something under his breath and turned silent with a sour look on his face.

"I want everyone at home for the dinner. Dinner is at seven," dad said.

I finished my breakfast and got up to leave when my twin brother decided to interrogate me. He was getting on my nerves.

"Where are you going?" he asked.
