"What do you have?" I question looking up at Theo expectantly "Let's call it a hunch," I respond. "We have about ten hours to find this thing that's not enough to follow a hunch," Dean points out "That's why you two *points at the brothers* and Nolan are gonna stay here with Noah to figure something out," Theo instructs "You're the hunters, right?" he asks and the brothers keep quiet.
"Mason," Theo calls "You and Corey are coming with us, we might need the invisibility," he adds and Corey nods his head "I won't even ask," Dean says under his breath.
"He's a chameleon," Mason informs on our way out.
"Of course he is," Dean mumbles just before the door closes.
"What's your hunch?" Corey questions "Is it the Highway?" Mason asks "You saw it too?" Theo asks in response, "What about the Highway?" Corey questions "I have a feeling our next victim will be there," Theo responds as we step into his truck, "The next victim?" I question "We have ten hours until it's all over and our guy is still missing three victims," Theo responds, "The letters C, L, and T," Mason points out and I share a look with Theo. "You think it could be the two of us?" I ask and he shrugs, "We certainly fit the bill," he informs "We're teenagers who went to Nolan's party," "And you have the L and T it's looking for," Corey adds.
"Yup, we definitely fit the bill," I say sarcastically. It doesn't take long for us to reach the edge of the Highway.
The thought of either Theo or I potentially being the next victim never left my head, in fact I'm still thinking about it and it's not doing me any good.
I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be completely paranoid for the next ten hours.
Once this is over, I'm done with everything.
Not with Theo, don't worry, this, us. we're good together, we're a team and I'm pretty sure it's gonna stay that way for a pretty long time, unless something happens to either of us tonight.
"Crap," Theo exclaims, getting me back to reality.
"What's wrong?" I question "Two potential victims on opposite ends of the Highway," Mason responds, "Mason, you and Corey take the left, Liam and I will go right," Theo instructs and we do as told, running into our 'assigned' directions."Is that?" "Cammie," Theo exclaims, interrupting me and we both pick up a notch, trying to catch up to her and to keep her from doing something stupid.
Once we're in earshot, we start calling her and she turns around with a tearstained face before mouthing something.
Just as Theo is about to grab her arm, she steps forward, getting hit a second later.
My first instinct is to look away and I can hear Theo cussing, his voice breaking. So I open my eyes to see him pacing back and forth, trying to keep it together.
The traffic stopped and people are scrambling out of their cars, trying to see what happened while some are calling the police.
"We have to go back," I say, trying to get him away from the edge.
"I have to stay with Cammie," he says "Cammie's dead Theo," I say, my voice breaking.
Theo just lost the last person left from his family.
I know that he didn't really get along with his dad, but Cammie is something else.
They grew up together and were really close until she was sent away.
When she came back and told him the real story, they became close again.
Now she's gone.
"Come on," I say, taking a hold of his hand and softly guiding him back towards the truck.
When we reach it we see Mason and Corey and they look just as shocked as we do.
"We lost her," Mason informs "She jumped in front of the traffic," Corey adds "So did ours," I inform, offering to drive while Theo sits on the passenger seat with his head resting against the window.
"Did you know the girl?" I ask, shooting Mason a look through the rearview mirror. "I've seen her around school, but I can't remember her name," Mason responds "Yours?" he asks.
"My sister," Theo mumbles, not taking his eyes off the view outside and the boys in the backseat share a look.
"I'm sorry buddy," Mason says, reaching over squeeze his shoulder softly and Theo doesn't say anything, he just looks out of the window as if he was deep in thought.
I'm wondering how he's doing this.
Keeping himself together.
When his father died, Theo cried a lot, but with Cammie, he's acting as if nothing happened.
Maybe he still hasn't processed seeing his sister getting hit by a truck, I honestly don't know.As I'm about to go into the Sheriff's office, Theo pulls me back by the wrist and I look up at him confused.
"I'm gonna go home okay," he says "Can you take care of this?" he questions, motioning to the building and I simply nod my head, not thinking much of it as he gets back into his truck, driving off and I return to the station, entering Noah's office.
"We just heard about Cammie," Nolan speaks up as soon as I set foot into the room.
"Is Theo okay?" he asks "I don't know," I respond with a shrug. "He tried his best to stay cool, but I think Cammie's death hit him harder than his dad's," I add.
"Well, he did see his sister get hit by a truck," Corey informs "And he saw his dad shoot himself," I point out.
"Poor kid," I hear Sam and Dean say under their breath simultaneously.
"So we have about eight hours left to find the last victim," I question "We won't know who the Jane Doe is for at least two hours," Noah informs "So we have to look for two potential victims with the letters L and T," Sam says.
"Did you guys figure out a way to get rid of this thing once and for all?" Mason questions, looking up at the brothers.
"Not really," Dean answers "But we know how we can talk with the reaper," he informs.
"You two, do whatever you have to do," I say "I have to go home and check on Theo," I inform "Call me if you have anything," I add before leaving the station and walking all the way back home. When I enter the house, it's quiet.
Theo's truck wasn't outside, so I'm wondering where he went.
"Mum," I call, my voice sounding unusually loud in the quietness of my house.
"Yes, sweetie," mum calls back before walking downstairs, "Have you seen Theo?" I ask "He came home for a second before leaving again," She responds as she approaches me.
"Did he mention where he was going?" I ask "He said something about a 'T.J'" she informs and I breathe in relief.
"What's wrong?" she asks with concern in her eyes "His sister just died," I respond and her mouth drops "T.J is an old friend of his and he lived with Theo's father and sister," I inform.
"Is he okay?" she questions "I don't know mum, that's what worries me," I respond "I'm pretty sure he'll be back soon," she says, caressing my arm "Then you can talk to him," she adds.
"I'm not very good at talking with mourning people," I point out, looking down in shame.
"Then I'll talk to him about it," she promises, "Just sit down and try to clear your mind while you wait for him," she adds, giving my shoulder a soft squeeze and I nod my head before laying down on the couch.Just as I'm about to fall asleep, I hear the front door open, making me jump a little and I sit up to see Theo walking in.
He notices me and steps into the living room.
I can tell that he's in pain, but I don't think it's because he just lost what was left of his family, it's something else.
"Is it the choking thing again?" I ask as he sits down with a pained expression, shaking his head. "It's worse, way worse," he informs, letting out a shaky breath.
"How so?" I ask as I pull him closer to me, making him sit between my legs his back against my chest.
"Because it's the whole body this time," he informs "It feels like a ton of bricks just fell on top of me," he says "Or as if I fell three stories to the ground," he adds "So you think the last victim jumped off a building?" I ask "Or he's going to," he informs.
"He?" I questions "First word that came to mind," he points out.
"Why did you go see Thomas?" I ask, trying not to sound jealous. "I asked him about Cammie and he told me that she was acting weird the whole day," he responds, playing with my hands, "I also checked if he could be the next victim, but he seemed normal, so I doubt it," he adds.
"His name might start with 'T' but I don't think it could be him either," I say, "Mason said that he knew the other girl and we should know her name any minute now," I inform and as on cue, I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket.
I try to pull it out without pushing Theo away, to read the message.
"The girl's name is Lara Jenkins," I inform "So I was right to check on Thomas," Theo says "Yes you were," I say, pocketing my phone again.
