Why should I read the Bible?

Imagine having a best friend who never listened to what you had to say. You had great and exciting things to share, but your friend didn't pay any attention to you. How well would you actually know each other? How strong do you think your friendship would grow?

If we want to become best friends with God, we need to know what he has to say to us. He has written things that matter to Him in the pages of the Bible. When we take time to read it, we are not just reading another story. We are hearing God's heart and growing closer to the One who loves us! As we learn what is important to God, we begin to value those things too. We learn to live our lives by His directions and not our own thinking. God uses His Word to help us trust Him, obey Him, and love Him as we become more like Jesus.

"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness."
2 Timothy 3:16
