|| FOUR - Part I ||

The room was covered with a thick layer of silence. If you wanted you could just cut it with a knife. You could hear the ticking of my dad's wristwatch clearly.

Everybody sat still in their places, all eyes staring at me and waiting for me to do something, to react to what I've been told about a few minutes ago.

I don't know if what they're saying is true or not. It's difficult to believe that those things exist in real. And I don't even want to get started at neither dad nor Cami. I'm baffled. I feel betrayed. How could she lie to me all these years? And dad? How didn't he bother explaining all this to me before?

Few minutes ago...

"Pickle, do you know anything about werewolves?" my dad asked of me.

"Oh yes I do! I know about werewolves! I've seen Teen Wolf infinite number of times. And there are other mystical creatures apart from werewolves, like vampires, witches, etc." I replied feeling a little excited after thinking about Scott and Stiles and most importantly Derek. God I wish I were a werewolf like them.

"Do you think that such supernatural beings exist in real?" voiced Orinn, I turned in my chair to look at him.

"Well, I don't think they really exist. Why are you asking though?" I looked at dad and him with my brows furrowed in confusion. I felt out of place. As if they all know something that i don't know.

From the corner of my eye I saw my dad nod at Vinn, giving him the gesture to unreveal the truth to me.

Vinn returned his gesture by bobbing his blond hair and sighed before starting. "Okay so would you believe me if I told you that werewolves exist in real?" he asked, waiting for my reply.

I scoffed, "Obviously I won't believe you."

"Okay so there are something's which you need to know. Firstly, your mother, Elian's wife, is not your biological mother. And we both," Orinn pointed towards him and his brother before continuing, "we are your half brothers. Which means all three of us share the same mother but not the same father."

I looked at my dad, and he nodded his head in confirmation. I decided to keep quiet and listen to everything before saying anything. I looked back at them and waited for them to continue. I couldn't believe it. I started chewing my nails out of nervousness. Everything's gonna be fine.

"We are not normal human beings, we are werewolves. Which means you are also a werewolf." Vinn dropped the bomb on my head. In any other day if somebody told me this thing then I would've laughed my ass off. I looked at my arms and legs, if I'm a werewolf then why can't I shift or do anything like Derek or Scott?

I asked of them as to why I haven't shifted yet, and got a reply that, "A werewolf can shift only on the day they turn 17. And as all of the people present here know that you'll turn 17 day after tomorrow so you have to leave this town and come with us. Before you say anything, let me tell you that this is a human township and you belong to our pack because we and our mother belong to that pack. So you have to move to California to stay in the pack. And if you aspire to go to college, you can go to the colleges in California."

I just nodded my head and asked the questions that were eating my insides. "I'm assuming that the humans are not aware of the existence of the werewolf species because it might be dangerous for them, but does the government know about us? And what is a pack?"

"Yes, the government is very well aware of the werewolves but it's confidential and not many people know about us. A pack is a group of werewolves that live in a particular area."

Hmm. I turned to Cami quickly, almost having a whiplash and I didn't know what to think so I asked the twins. "Wait, Cami and dad are humans so why do they know about werewolves?"

"Your dad was involved with our mother in various ways so he knows about the werewolves and he was also aware of the fact that you'll be a werewolf. And Camila is not a human, she is a werewolf and she is Orinn's mate." Explained Vinn.

I gaped and looked at Cami incredulously. How could she not tell me about all of these before? And, what the hell are mates?

"What do you mean by she's Orinn's mate?" I asked in a low voice. I'll make sure to grill Cami for hiding this from me.

"They're mates. When a werewolf turns 17 he or she get their wolf and could find their mates. Mates are basically soul mates. The person that is made for you and will be dedicated to you till their last breathe. They love each other till the last breathe. They are your other half. You only get one mate in your entire life. You'll also find your mate soon." As Vinn was explaining that to me, I noticed how Cami and Orinn looked and each other and how Cami blushed under his stare making him smirk.

I placed my elbows on the dark wood table and rested my fave on my palm, thinking how my mate would look and if he would love me and look at me like Orinn looks at Cami.
