Gone. The word hit me hard. I was in my room thinking about Sophie when I heard a piercing wail coming from Fitz's room.

Fitz was lying on his bed unconscious. When I saw him, I knew what happened. He........

Sophie, why did you leave? Why? Why did you do this? I thought. And Keefe. Why did he join the Neverseen? He broke my brother. Then Sophie went missing. He did this. He's the reason our lives are screwed up. HE DID THIS.

"Mom? Dad?" I call. "GET ELWIN! DON'T ASK QUESTIONS! HAIL ELWIN NOW!"

Elwin is here a few seconds later. Then I tell them Fitz broke. 

Elwin says, "Sorry, I can't do anything," when he sees Fitz.
