Alison's pov

I fill my wine glass up again, placing the second empty bottle of the night on the coffee table. I take a large gulp of wine before walking towards my desk, my hand shakes as it hovers over the enter key of my laptop

Dear Em,
I'm sorry I haven't returned your calls. The last step has been hard for me.

I love you - Alison

I do love Emily. I love her with all my heart. I love the way my whole body feels like it's floating when she says my name and the way my fingers tingle when she smiles at me. I love how her hair flows perfectly over her shoulders, stopping just below her breasts and how any piece of clothing looks gorgeous against her tanned skin. I love the shimmer that appears in her hazel eyes when she looks at our daughters, I miss seeing that shimmer when she looks at me.

I hear a click as my finger bounces off the enter button sending the email to Emily. I take a deep breathe as I try hold back the tears that are threatening to fall. Flicking through the divorce papers I see that Emily used her old signature, removing DiLaurentis from her name. This really is what she wants. I reluctantly pick up a pen, continuously reminding myself that I am doing this for her; for her happiness and her safety. I sign my name just below hers, closing the paper back over. I look up to the ceiling trying to stop tears from streaming down my face. I pull my ring off to reveal the indentation it has left on my finger, placing it down on top of the papers before look over to the photo of my once perfect family. All my effort to hold back my tears is ruined as the picture reminds me of what I have lost. I quickly pick up the glass, taking another drink of wine to try numb the pain. If it wasn't for my two gorgeous daughters, I could end it all now; end the pain I feel in my heart. My love for Emily would give me comfort as I slipped away from the world forever, knowing that everything I have would be her's again. I could just disappear because without Emily Fields by my side I am nothing. I am irretrievably broken...just like our marriage.

Emily's pov

I hear a ping from my laptop as I set the dinner table. I place the last plate down on the table before walking over to read the email I have received. My heart begins to tighten with pain as she signs it off with: I love you - Alison

"Lily! Grace! Dinner" I yell, as I slowly close my laptop to hide the email from them

"Is Nana coming for dinner?" Lily asks

"No why?" I laugh at the random nature of her question

"Cause there are four plates" She tells me as her large eyes stare at the extra seat at the dinner table

My eyes begin to water as I realise that yet again I subconsciously set a place for Alison.
I miss her so much. I miss her laugh. I miss going to her classroom at lunch to gossip about the other teachers and students. I miss the way she rolled her ocean blue eyes whenever I joked about how much I "loved" her bangs and how every morning, as I knelt down to tie Lily or Grace's shoes, she would softly nudge me with her foot causing me to fall onto the floor only for her to rush over to me, holding me tightly against her as she helped me up. I miss the way she would wrap her arm around my waist, showing off her wedding ring, with a huge grin on her face whenever someone asked us if we were married and I miss watching her smooth lips curve into a proud smile whenever she talked about Lily and Grace. I miss having her by my side.

"Mommy?" Lily says as she waits for my reply

"Oh, no Nana isn't coming..."

"Is it for Mommy?" Grace grins with excitement

"No, I just miscounted the plates" I tell my daughters, whos' faces immediately drop

"When is Mommy coming home?" Lil asks through a petted lip

"I...I don't know" I admit as a lump begins to form in my throat

Alison's pov

Just as I open another bottle of wine, Emily FaceTimes me. I stare at my tablet until the ringing stops and I have missed the call; I can't be bothered to find my wine glass from earlier so I just take a drink straight out the bottle before returning the FaceTime call

"Hey Alison" She smiles

"Hi Em" I slur

"Have you been drinkin..." Emily is cut off by the sequels of Lily and Grace

"Mommy" Lily cheers, rapidly waving her hands back and forth

The excitement on my daughters' faces, makes me sit up immediately and my headache from the wine dissolves as a smile appears on my face

"The girls wanted their Mommy to read them a bedtime story" Emily tells me as she fakes a smile

"I'm sorry princesses but I don't have any books here with me" I tell them, not taking my eyes off of Emily

"Tell us about your day" Grace smiles

I am so proud at how far their language has come along, it wasn't long before I left that they began to say full sentences and now they are talking just as well as the students in my class.

Emily's pov

"Goodnight Lily. Goodnight Grace. I love you both so much. I will talk to you tomorrow" Alison smiles, blowing our daughters kisses through the tablet.

I give them a kiss on the head before leaving their room, remaining on FaceTime with Alison

"You are officially Emily Fields again" she mutters once she knows that I have left Lily and Grace's room

"I signed the papers tonight" she continues

I can hear the devastation in her voice, she doesn't even attempt to hide her heartbreak.

"Alison, I..."

"Emily don't" Alison sighs

The room falls silent as neither of us know what to say to each other. I do love Alison, I always will, I just can't deal with her lies; not when I have our daughters to think about.

"So I heard I missed my cousin's wedding?" She says, changing the conversation

Alison's pov

"So I heard I missed my cousin's wedding?"

"Yeah, Spencer and Toby..."

And just like that everything goes back to normal. Emily tells me about Spencer and Toby's elopement and why everyone thinks that Spence is pregnant. We both laugh as she tells me stories of Lily, Grace, Aidan and Kate.
For a second I even forget that today I signed the papers for our divorce: that is until Emily wipes away tears of laugher with her left hand, showing me yet again, that she isn't wearing her rings.

"You took your rings off" I mutter

"So did you" she replies

"Have the girls noticed?"

"Not yet, but Alison. We are going to have to tell them eventually"

"Yeah I know, but it'll be difficult to explain it to them when I don't even understand"

"Alison we have talked about this"

"I know but it doesn't mean I understand" I admit as the feeling of brokenness engulfs my body yet again

Tears begin to fall from Emily's eyes and she can no longer talk to me without her voice cracking like glass

"I might not fully understand Emily, but I just want you to be happy. That's why I signed the papers because your happiness is the most important thing to me...even if that means that we can't be together"

"Ali" Emily cries

"Goodnight Emily..." a single tear rolls down my cheek as I mutter "I love you" before ending the FaceTime call

Emily's pov

"I love you too" I sigh when the tablet returns to it's home screen of Alison, Lily, Grace and I as Alison hangs up the FaceTime
