Darkness and a dense fog surrounded the young teen, who stood looking around with a terrified face. He tried calling out, but no sound came out. He grabbed his throat in shock and looked around more frantically.
Suddenly, red eyes lit up in the fog and the teen froze. The red eyes grew closer and the teen turned around and ran. As he was running, the darkness grew closer and closer. The teen stopped running and looked around in horror at the closing darkness.
The teen shot up from his pillow, screaming in terror. His eyes shot open and he shakily looked around. His icy-blue eyes met the eyes of his of dark-greyish brown dog. It's eyes showed concern for it's master.
"Lucious, it's fine... Just another nightmare..." the teen said, his voice shaking. It's only just the same nightmare I've been having recently and it's starting to freak me out! It not like you'd understand that though...
The teen's door suddenly flew open, making the boy jump. Lucious growled at the figure standing at the door. A woman in her mid 30's now stood in the doorway. She had long black hair and teal colored eyes. She was glaring at the boy and his dog.
"Lucarious, I swear to God that if I hear you scream one more night, I'm going to start making you sleep outside!" she hissed.
The teen frowned. "But I'm not a dog..." he replied.
The woman narrowed her eyes. "Don't get smart with me, boy. Remember what happened last time?"
Lucarious brought a hand to his left arm, rubbing over a bruise that was still there, healing. "S-Sorry ma'am... I-It was just another nightmare..."
His mom rolled her eyes. "Oh please... You're almost eighteen now! You shouldn't wake up screaming like you're some five year old! Grow up, Lucarious."
With saying that, she slammed the door shut and Lucarious brought his knees to his chest, wrapping his arms around his legs. Lucious set his head on the bed next to the teen and licked his hand.
"Why does she hate me? It's not like I was the reason Elizer divorced her... Right?" he asked, looking down at Lucious, wishing the dog could speak. He didn't fall asleep again that night.
The sun started rising, bringing some dim light into Lucarious' room. The teen looked up slightly and sighed, looking at the sleeping dog next to him. Lucarious checked the time on his phone and saw that it was 6 o'clock in the morning.
The teen got out of bed and began getting ready for the Hell that awaited him. School was starting today, which meant he was about to get treated worse. Maybe Clay will leave me alone this year... It is our senior year after all and bullying is pretty childish. Maybe he's grown up a bit...
The teen shook his head. "Who am I kidding? Clay will never give up on making my life a living hell. Just like my mom..." His eyes widen in realization. "Shit!"
"Lucarious Sin, get down here right now!" his mother yelled.
The teen quickly checked himself and grabbed his gloves, putting them in his back pocket, and grabbed his backpack, and made his way out of the room. He walked down the stairs and got to the kitchen, where his mom stood furious.
"Why isn't breakfast done? We made a deal, remember? You cook and clean, and I work and pay the bills." she asked, glaring at the teen.
"I-I'm sorry... I forgot I had school today... I-I would've come down sooner had I known... I-I'll get started on it now." Lucarious answered, a slight tremble in his voice.
Lucarious walked over to the stove and got out a pan. As he reached for a spatula, his mom sliced the top of his hand open with a knife. Lucarious yelled in pain and brought his hand to his chest.
