Chapter 29

Before you knew it, it was April and Colby was walking the red carpet alone. Elijah was still too little, so you stayed home while he went to the Hall of Fame and WrestleMania.

You were watching the red carpet ceremony as you fed Eli. After you burped him, you cuddled him in your arms and watched. He stared at you the whole time.

You saw Colby walk into the camera's view and admired how good he looked in his black suit. He walked up to Cathy to be interviewed.

Cathy: Everyone, please welcome, Seth Rollins! Seth, how have you been?
Colby: I've been great, thanks
Cathy: We joked last year about how you'd have a baby on the way at this year's Hall of Fame, but we were all surprised to see your baby arrived early. What happened?
Colby: Well, Jess was doing one of the girls' makeup and felt dizzy and lightheaded so I took her to the ER and they said her blood pressure was through the roof. They couldn't get it to stabilize, so they decided the best thing to do was to induce her and deliver the baby early
Cathy: How early was the baby?
Colby: He was 2 months early. Not too early to not have a fighting chance, but early enough to scare the Hell out of us

You looked down and Eli and smiled as you realized he was looking at the TV. You quickly snapped a picture.

Cathy: I can only imagine how you and Jess must've felt. What did you name him?
Colby: His name's Elijah. We're so in love with him. He's definitely a Mama's boy though
Cathy: What makes you say that?
Colby: Well, one night last month, I heard him cry in the middle of the night and went to check on him so Jess could sleep and I changed his diaper, tried feeding him a bottle, everything. I was bouncing him when Jess came in and took him and he calmed right down
Cathy: That's so precious! Who does more work?
Colby: We pretty much split it down the middle. I try to do more while I'm home so Jess can rest. She does so much while I'm gone and I wanna help out as much as I can
Cathy: I can tell from your Instagram that you're a hands on kind of dad. How's dad life treating you?
Colby: It's amazing. I wouldn't want it any other way. I love being a dad

Cathy went on to ask him about what he thought the next night entailed (He had a tag match with Roman Reigns for the tag team championships) and about his career and you turned the TV off when the interviews were over and went to bed. 

The following month, RAW was in Davenport that week, so Colby was gonna be in town for his birthday (A Thursday) until the following Wednesday when he had to be at a live event. 

Colby's plane just landed and you were standing in baggage claim waiting for him. You were wearing a pair of shorts and a Seth Rollins T-Shirt and sneakers and had Elijah in his stroller (His car seat attached to a stroller. Thank God for your mother in law). You were putting his pacifier in his mouth when you heard Colby's voice. "Excuse me, ma'am? I'm looking for my wife and son". You turned around and wrapped him in a hug and kissed him. He pulled away and kissed you one last time before pulling Eli out of his car seat and kissed his cheek and Eli smiled.

The two of you headed back to the car and off to the house. 

You were in the shower when Colby walked in and sat on the counter. "Hey, I was thinking... We haven't had a date night since Elijah was born. How about we call my mom to come babysit? It IS my birthday weekend, you know". You smiled to yourself and turned the water off. "Babe, he's 3 months old... I don't think I wanna leave him yet" "Come on, Jess. It'll be fun! Just dinner. Okay?" "Yeah, okay". He smiled and kissed you and went and called his mom. 

You put on a dark red spaghetti strap silk dress and a pair of black heels and flat ironed your hair and did a smoky eye with red lips to match your dress. Colby wore a pair of black slacks and a black button down shirt tucked in and the sleeves rolled up to his elbows and his hair tied back in a bun. His mom got to the house and you both kissed Elijah and left in your car to your dinner date night.

Colby drove your car down to the restaurant and parked the car and looked over at you and smiled. "What?", you asked smiling back. "You're just so damn beautiful". You smiled and leaned over and kissed him and he pulled his phone out and took a selfie of the two of you smiling and another one of you kissing him and posted them both saying "One hot Mama *fire emoji and heart emoji* First date night since Eli was born. I love you, Jess!". You posted the same pictures and said "Damn, my baby daddy is fine as Hell *fire emoji and heart eye emoji* First date night since having Eli. I already miss him, but grateful for alone time with my hubby. I love you, Colby!".

All through dinner, you laughed and talked about what's been happening with Colby on the road. He pulled a tiny black box out of his pocket and put it in your hand. "Colby... What is this?" "Just a surprise. I heard that most men give their wife a present after they have a baby, so.. Here's yours". You smiled and opened it and saw a beautiful heart shaped necklace with the letters EDL engraved in cursive on it. "Colby, it's beautiful". You kissed him and he put it around your neck and took his seat across from you. The two of you enjoyed dessert and headed back home and saw that his mom had put Eli to bed, so you and Colby quietly got ready for bed and went to sleep.
