PETER pressed on the button on the elevator to Dr. Connors' office as he let out a sigh. Once the elevator came to a stop and opened, Peter walked out and entered Connors' office only to see it looking somewhat empty. His eyebrows furrowed as he picked up a half used serum syringe from one of Connors' desk.

"It's not nice to snoop, Parker." Dr. Connors chuckled dryly, startling Peter. "I gave everyone the week off." He stated waving his hand around, referring to the empty room.

Peter nodded to himself, taking in the empty room as he cautiously put back the syringe. "I see that." He chuckled nervously.

Connors' eyes narrowed at Peter, "Shouldn't you be in school?" He asked, pointing his pen toward Peter.

"I uh... have a free period." His head tilted in thought, "I wanted to," He began to clear his throat, "I wanted to ask you a question." He stated as Connors nodded his head for him to proceed. "How would a predator track a reptile?" Peter asked inquisitively.

Connors let out a sly chuckle, "Oh, Parker. They don't. Most reptiles are at the top of their respective food chain. Kings of their domain." He stated with a small smirk.

Peter's eyes narrowed in question, "But they gotta have vulnerabilities, right?" He asked curiously.

Connors shook his head at his question as he took a seat on the edge of the table, "Why the sudden interest in cold blooded, Parker?"

Peter shrugged, "It's just a question." He stated nonchalantly. "I'm doing... a project on them." He lied. "So because of the cold blood, would they react to sudden changes in temperature?" He continued.

Connors chuckled lightly, "I'm afraid you'd have to catch one first." He said sinisterly. "Did you know, there's a rumor of a new species in New York?" He added whilst slightly changing the subject. "I heard it was beautiful and quite large."

Peter nodded slowly as his face furrowed at Connors suspiciously, "Uh, yeah. I've heard about it. Have you seen it?" He asked.

Connors nodded contentedly, "I guess you could say that. It's not yet classified though, but it can be aggressive... if threatened, of course." He warned with a sly smirk.

Peter noticed parts of Connors' neck turning a slight green as his eyes narrowed in concern, "Doc, you okay?" He asked as he took a small step forward.

Connors slid off the table to take a step back whilst turning away from Peter, "Never been better, Parker." He said quietly whilst holding onto the nape of his neck. "Now if you'll excuse me, I'm afraid I'm gonna have to ask you to leave. I have a new project I'm working on and I need to be alone." He stated as he started heading to a secluded part of his office. He stopped in his tracks before he continued speaking, "Don't worry Parker, I'll be back." He turned back around to face Peter. "Wonderful things are coming. Wonderfull things, I tell you." He said with a sly smile.

Peter nodded slowly as the hairs of the back of his neck stood up whilst Connors left the room. Peter pivoted on his heel, heading out of Connors' office whilst noticing the test mouse from the other day had morphed into half lizard and is eating the other mice.

PETER rushed to the police station that he knew Lillian's mother worked at. He frantically looked around for Leila, only to see her sitting at her station.

"Peter? What are you doing here?" Leila asked with her eyebrows furrowed confusion.

Peter shook his head rapidly as he panted lightly out of breath, "N-No... actually, I have a... free period." He breathed out. "I'm sure you heard about or seen the huge lizard right?" He stated as Leila nodded. "I believe that Dr. Curt Connors is behind it." He finished.

Leila let out a light chuckle, "You're not serious, right?" She asked.

"I'm not joking. He's been injecting himself with this serum to help himself heal a-and now he's turning into this... this huge lizard." He explained.

Leila shook her head, "I don't know, kiddo." She chuckled softly in amusement.

Peter sighed, "Now I know how Lills felt when I didn't believe her." He mumbled.

Leila eyes narrowed at Peter's statement, "What?" She asked not sure if she heard him correctly.

Peter's eyes widened slightly as he cleared his throat whilst scratching the back of his neck nervously. "Um... before I started volunteering at OsCorp, Lilly had her suspicions about Dr. Connors, but I didn't listen to her and now I kinda feel like it's my fault." He said softly.

"Lilly knows about this?" Leila asked sternly as she sat up straight.

Peter slightly cowered away from her, "Uh... what?" He scoffed timidly as he dragged out the 'a' in 'what' whilst shaking his head. "No... Did I say that? I don't think I said that." He chuckled nervously.

Leila crossed her arms as she stared at Peter impatiently, "Now you're lying to me about it?" She shook her head in disappointment. She sighed, "Peter, just go home, okay? I'll handle it. Don't worry." She stated.

Peter shook his head, "But Mrs. Hayes, he's gonna do something soon. I don't know what exactly, but he has something planned." He warned.

Leila nodded with a sigh, "Yes, Peter. I heard you. I got this covered." She reassured him before continuing, "This isn't my first rodeo, you know. Go home, keep an eye on Lilly for me. Okay?" She stated.

Peter nodded, "Yeah, of course." He breathed out softly as he started heading out.

"And don't do anything stupid," She called out slightly as Peter stopped in his tracks. "If we need back up, I'll call you." She smiled.

Peter's eyes grew wide, "W-What?" He choked on his words.

"You know, since you work with Spider-Man and all." She reminded.

Peter chuckled nervously, "Right... yeah. Okay..." He breathed out in relief as he nodded and continued his way out of the police station.
