When you're a kid you know about death. When your first dog dies and your fish floats to the top of the tank your mom says, "Oh sweetie, I'm so sorry they're dead." You know they're dead but you never really understand what it means for a being to die, not until your friend dies. Not until everyone's friend dies. Then the understanding hits you like a ton of bricks and you're suffocating under those bricks and they all have your friend's name on them. That's when you understand.
This is about the understanding and how I learned through six deaths in two months.
