11. An Eye for an Eye

Daniel left at a late time that Saturday. We all had a laugh and I couldn't help but admire his dictation, he used precise language to articulate what was deemed unable. Any who, we agreed to meet up again, which made me exceedingly nervous. I most definitely knew why.

I was seven-eighths of the way done with my school work, and I was ecstatic at the thought that I could be free the rest of the winter holidays.

It was a gloomy Tuesday, and I had taken today off from doing anything, so I decided to get on my laptop and look at social media websites.

The websites I had allowed myself to affiliate with looked menacing to belong to. Each enclosed a hoard of demeaning scriptures and depicted several unimaginable derogatory remarks.

Rose, what have you done to yourself?

I closed twitter and I immediately began laughing. I laughed until my stomach hurt, and I just laid down on my bed. I'm so dumb. My mobile ringed and I picked up. Daniel.

"Rose?" Dan's voice was like a song in itself on the other line. "Hi!" I chirped. He chuckled and resumed speaking, "Are you doing anything tomorrow?"

My heart fluttered.

"No I'm actually not." I said, my voice cracking.

"Wonderful! Would you like to wander the London streets with me tomorrow? Around noon?" He sounded nervous.

"That would be lovely." Woah, tomorrow.

"Thank you for not being so difficult." I could practically hear him smiling thought the mobile.

"Ha ha ha." I said sarcastically, we then bid our goodbyes.

After my stumping conversation with the unlikely culprit, I found myself in my sister's room, rummaging though her music. I was able to delve into the musical realm once again. My devil of a sister re-introduced me to the long forgotten world of Spanish lullabies, and much more. I was grateful for my stealthy time spent in her dimly lit, vacant room. The night was spent wondering around my playlists, listening to a gargantua of specially crafted songs. I stumbled upon one in particular. It was titled Overjoyed.

Different, that was the word. So, so different. But I liked it. And it seemed to be an expert at stumping my mind for adjectives.

The next morning came like a bullet. I had to see Dan, and I now had to rely solely on my social experiences to guide me. I could do this.

There was a knock at the door precisely at noon.

"I'll get it!" Diana blustered as she ran down the stairs at lightning speed. Even from where I was standing in the middle of the dining room I could see a blushing Dan greeting my sister. I walked over to the door and walked out with him, bidding my sister a farewell.

Once we were out on the street he seemed to tense up, as though he was nervous at the thought of spending time with me.

I mean, I was nervous as well. I still felt as if I had the semblance of a teenage girl within me, one that still got nervous around boys. If only I acted my age I would be compelled to do something about my nervousness. But knowing who I am, I would stay sulking in my nerves and butterflies...

He sighed and I was returned to the real world. I looked up at him and smiled in replacement of a formal greeting. His glasses fell to the tip of his nose, and he smiled in return.

"So.. This is just what you wanted to do?" I asked.

We were walking in the direction of London, passing the suburban style houses that stood uniform against my family's Victorian style house.

"Why not enjoy a lovely day with an immaculate person?" He said with a smile.
