"JOE!" Dianne shouted. "YOU ARE SO ANNOYING!" Her boyfriend had just made her jump for the fifth time since she'd woken up, which was only an hour ago, and so far, Dianne had been unable to get him back. "WILL YOU PACK IT IN?!" Joe, laughing uncontrollably, snaked his arms around her waist and pressed a kiss to her cheek. "Sorry, I won't do it again" he apologised, knowing all too well he would. Dianne knew it too.
"You're such a liar."
Joe grinned. "I know. See ya later." He kissed her lips quickly and ran out of their bedroom, back downstairs to where he was working.
"I will get you back" Dianne muttered before she carried on getting ready.Washed, dressed and fully ready, Dianne crept downstairs for two reasons. One- she was scared Joe would be waiting to make her jump again. And two- she wanted to try and get him back. As she stepped down off the bottom step and turned her head, Dianne saw Joe's office door closed fully. With a mischievous grin on her face, she walked quietly over to it and pushed her ear against the wood in a bid to work out if Joe was actually in there. She could hear the clicking of his controller and the occasional, "go!" or, "for gods sake!" coming from within, confirming that he was playing a game and the lack of other noises meant he had his headphones on. Slowly and carefully, Dianne pushed down on the handle and opened the door slightly, just enough to enable her to see in. After seeing him completely and utterly immersed in his game, she pushed the door open further and crouched down, crawling through on her hands and knees. Dianne edged her way over and round the side of his chair, only jumping up when she was right next to him.
"Ah, oh my god!" Joe's head snapped round, his eyes wide with shock, to see his girlfriend doubled over, shoulders shaking with silent giggles. "You're such a loser!" He said, shaking his head.
"I got youuuu!" She sang once she'd recovered, now stood up straight having calmed down enough to speak. "Ugh, finally!" Throwing her arms up in the air in triumph, Dianne danced around on the spot, hopping from one foot to the other like an excitable puppy. Joe, having recovered from the shock, stood up and wrapped his arms around Dianne, keeping her from moving; she fought it, desperately trying to wriggle free of his grip.
"I'm still winning baby girl" he whispered into her ear, lips so close they brushed against her lobe, Dianne's weakness. Her body stilled as she leaned back into his embrace. Joe took the opportunity and placed gentle kisses from the skin behind her ear all the way to the top of her shoulder.
"That's not fair" Dianne whined as she snaked her arm around the back of his head, her fingertips stroking over his hair. "You can't do that, that's cheating."
"I'll stop then." Joe dropped his arms from around her body, stopped kissing her soft skin, and stepped away from her.
"No don't, please."
"Nope."
"Please?" Dianne asked, looking at Joe through big puppy-dog eyes. She closed the gap between their bodies and tried to force Joe to hug her by tugging on his arms. "You're too strong." Giving up, she went to walk away only for Joe to give in and pull her back into him, his hands resting over her stomach as he hugged her from behind.
"Happy now?" He whispered into her shoulder.
"Yep."Joe walked into their bedroom after a long day of trying his hardest to make Dianne jump at every given opportunity to see her laid on her side, facing away from the door. Her phone was on, Joe could see the light of the screen, and she had one of his AirPods in. Joe noticed with a smile that she was tapping the beat of the music out with her feet as the rest of her body laid still, seemingly unaware of anything outside of her phone. He took the opportunity and crept up behind, jumping onto the bed quickly and rolling her over onto her back. Sitting on top of her thighs, pinning her down, Joe attacked her sides and tickled her. It had happened very quickly and Dianne took a few seconds to react. She began to kick out and squirm under Joe's weight, trying her hardest to escape but to no avail.
"I really regret telling you I'm ticklish" she sighed once he'd stopped. "It's possibly one of my worst decisions to date."
"I would have found out sooner or later you weirdo."
"It could have been later though, then none of this" she gestured to their current position, "would have happened."
"It would." Joe rolled off her and mirrored her position on the bed. "You can't prank the prankster Dianne." Turning onto his side, Joe looked over her face like he had done many times before. He loved the dimple set in one cheek; the small creases in the corner of her eyes as she smiled; the long and curly eyelashes that fluttered gently.
"I can feel you staring" she said after a minute, turning onto her side to face Joe.
"Ah well." He moved closer and brushed his lips against hers gently. "I love you."
"I love you too." Dianne shivered as goosebumps rose on her skin.
"You're cold" Joe whispered, running his hand over her arm.
"A bit." Dianne shrugged and rolled off the bed, pulled back the covers and got into it. "I'm not now."
Joe did the same and got into bed next to her.Around an hour later, Joe could still feel Dianne restlessly kicking about as she struggled to sleep. He had nodded off a couple of times but had soon woken up again.
"Di?" He whispered into the dark.
"I thought you were asleep?"
"I was. But I'm awake now. What's up?"
"Nothing, why?"
"Because you're restless, I can feel you kicking about."
"Oh oops. Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you up."
"It's fine." Joe found Dianne's hand under the covers and entwined his fingers with hers. "What are you thinking about?"
"I don't really know. I just don't feel tired. Or relaxed. I could do with one of those calm app things but I'm not paying £35 a year, or whatever a 'premium' subscription is."
"No need." Joe turned onto his back and thought for a moment before speaking in a voice he hoped sounded calm and relaxing, except he went over-the-top to make Dianne laugh. "Clear your mind. Imagine a happy thought between your eyebrows as a raindrop."
"Joe" Dianne giggled, "you're an idiot."
"Imagine that raindrop running down your neck, over your tits, across your stomach, down your arse-"
"Joseph" Dianne interrupted, pushing him away. "Why do you have to make everything weird?"
"Because I'm Joe Sugg. That's all I'm good for. Making people laugh."
"It is not."
"I beg to differ."
"I don't know what that means."
"Never mind. If you won't listen to my calming bullshit, I've got another way to make you relax."
"Go on then." Joe shuffled back over and pulled Dianne close to him so that her head was resting against his shoulder. He lifted up the back of her top and ran his fingers along her spine to the dimples of her back to the dip of her waist and back up again, smiling as he felt the goosebumps rise slowly.
"That's so nice" she whispered.
"Are you relaxed now?"
"Yes, thank you. I love you."
"I love you too. Now go to sleep."
"Okay..." Dianne closed her eyes and finally fell asleep as Joe continued to stroke her back until he too drifted out of reality.
