One Month Later....

I wake up to my alarm going off,and instantly jump out of bed. It's time for school and I have to wake up Labria, and take her to school. I head to my closet and try to find me something to wear. I choose a red half shirt that says 'You Can't Sit With Us' on the front, and I have a white tank underneath. Then I pull out a pair of jeans and some red and white Jays. I walk to the bathroom to get my hair done. With each step I take the cold wooden floor creaks in our old house, and the "door" to our closet was actually a black full-length bed sheet. I live in O'Cliff where all the drive-by's happen and gangs hang on every corner. Most kids don't finish high school if they come from here, but I wanted to make a exception. However, it is getting harder and harder with taking care of my sister and dealing with my drunk dad. I want to get a college degree, but it is hard for a girl in the hood to graduate from even high school.

I comb my thick curly black hair and put it on one side of my Caramel colored shoulder. My mom was Brazilian and my dad is a black man. I have light caramel skin with emerald green eyes. I'm about 5'9 and have all kind of curves. Big bust and a big butt, I am almost a spite image of my mother. I have her curly, thick hair and her eyes. I'm her reflection except for she was darker then me. I finish my hair and my makeup and decide it is time to go wake up Labria.

I walk into our room that we share and wake her up. She stirs in bed then falls back asleep.

"Labria, it is time for school, wake up." She opens her eyes then groans.

"I'm only six years old, why does the government insist on torturing us by making us go to school!" She complained then reluctantly got out of bed. Unlike my hair, her hair is bone straight and she is light skinned like me. I walk into the kitchen and make us some cereal. My dad laid sleeping. He had some Jack Daniels bottle glasses that were empty laying all around him. I look out the kitchen window and see the sun is just starting to come out. Gangs were already hanging on the street corners, and cars drove by with the drivers blaring thier music through their speakers, and they yell out foul language like someone actually cares.

Labria walks into the kitchen fully dressed and ready to go. I grab my backpack and my key to the house then take Labria's hand.

"Hold my hand when we walk to school, and don't let go unless I tell you. Do you understand?" I ask her and she nods her head. We walk outside and started walking to the bus stop. Thugs hanging in street corners hollered at me trying to show off in front of their friends.

"Hey lil mama, you need a ride to school. We could drop off your sis then me and you can go have some fun." A gangster said out his car window. He looked me up and down then licked his lips. "Lots of fun." Labria's grip on my hand tightens and I keep walking. Just ignore them and they won't bother you. I tell myself. The guy parks his car then gets out to follow us.

"Labria, there is your friend over there with her mom. Why don't you go over there and I'll watch you." Hesitantly, Labria lets go of my hand and walks over to here friends. They hug and walk together to the bus stop. I keep walking hoping the guy will stop following me. He doesn't, and he eventually catches up to me.

"Hey lil mama, I know you heard me. Come on and get in the car, I will take you to school." He grabs my butt and it makes me jump, but I keep walking. Then he grabs my arm and turns me around.

"Let go of me, I'm just trying to go to school. Just let me be man." I tell him trying to jerk my arm away, but his grip tightens and it starts to hurt. He looks me up and down then shakes his head.

"Naw ill mama, I'm not letting you go. I'm going to have some fun with you." He smiles showing his pearly whites. He had a muscle shirt on and some shorts and Nike Air basketball shoes. He had cornrows and hazel brown eyes. A tattoo on his forearm and a gang tat on his neck. If I wasn't in the middle of trying to get away from him, he would be pretty attractive.

"My name isn't lil mama, it's Cashela. Now let me go or I'm going to make a scene, and it won't be pretty." He chuckles at my little threat like it is a joke then starts pulling me to the car.

"Help! Help! Someone help me!" I scream on the top of my lungs.

"Hey! Brah let her go man. Go pick on someone else." A guy comes out of no where and grabs my arm from him. "Leave her alone man she just trying to get a good education so her kids won't turn out like you." The mystery guy lets me go and I don't stick around to see if the two guys are going to fight or not. It is too late to get a ride on the bus so I have to walk to school. I curse under my breath, but suck it up and get walking.
